I searched for “No Kings” stuff and I found this.

Show us your No Kings signs!

    https://bsky.app/profile/jennifertaub.com/post/3lrjb5naa5c2j

I thought the thread would make me laugh but I got a surprise. It made me depressed instead. The libs are filled enthusiasm and they’re making efforts yet they’re not making a single demand and also there is and will be zero effort at actual organizing to change anything. Sigh.

The poster is quite popular on Bluesky. She has ~211K followers. Here’s another post.

We have one job. Stay in the fight. The nonviolent, peaceful resistance.

TBF I don’t think this protest is going to be like the women’s march where people are allowed to walk around and blow off steam. The pigs are out for blood this time.

Yeah and the people who will be participating are not gonna be prepared for the police retaliation because they think simply being non violent will mean the cops will let them be

50501 have been reaching out to actually invite the cops to show they are aiming for a peaceful protest. This is what happened with our local group and is why I’m not going today. I’m gonna hold up and provide online support for my group(not the 50501 group, we have someone on that too).

Is this a organization wide thing or a local thing? There seems to be huge variance in who actually organizes these, like some are from local Pro-Palestinian groups and others are from farmers or something.

To the best of my understanding, 50501, the org is putting on the main ones. This is the No Kings one. We have a second thing going on today that is just a protest against the parade though. There was something I saw about there being 1800 protests today so I would say not all of them are 50501 related.

50501 is kind of a mess that is barely functioning it seems so the variance could just be from them not being super cohesive.

see we’re protesting the right way! Scheduling it at times that won’t interfere with anything AND being completely submissive to authority

    I am stunlocked

Let them eat taco just because the taco thing that was fun for MAYBE two minutes a month ago? It doesn’t bother you that phrase was spoken from the perspective of the thing you’re ostensibly against? Or that you’re making one of them your figurehead? And “let’s go taco” just setting aside how clumsy it is to have two slogans on the same poster, way to show off how much brandon bothered you.

Also what the fuck is happening with that apostrophe

The taco is like a fucking pound of beef too. Look at that thing. That shell would be completely soaked with grease.

Things I saw at my lib protest today

    • an older woman with that “sit down peaceful protest” viral thing printed out, laminated, pinned to her back
    • I was with the Palestine contingent at the start, and as we started a free Palestine chant another protester turns to us and says “from Hamas”
    • some European folks in sierra club garb saw my sign (chinga la migra) and asked if I knew Spanish, I said somewhat and they said people will be offended by it.
    • a sign that implied trump is a dictator with a thought bubble coming out of trump, in the thought bubble was a hammer and sickle (lmao)
    • a pro Joe Biden American/pride flag

But also, plenty of Palestine chants, plenty of Palestine and Mexican flags, lots of keffiyehs, presence of all the good local orgs, and I only saw one trot

I yelled at them a bit. Told her group we don’t need Zionist scum and they can either shut up and listen or go home, then she flipped me off.

Like, you are here, obviously you agree that shits generally fucked, with the pressing matter of our neighbors being unceremoniously disappeared every day, but its more important that you defend Israel? I guess this is the Schumer demographic and is mad at Trump for not supporting Israel harder.

Quote from a lib today after I tried to start up a “fuck donald trump” chant after the previous chant had died down: “Hey! Don’t be violent, we’re better than them.” These people think fascism is imminent and won’t even swear about it. Hopeless.

Hexbear person: “Are there vegan options?”

      Lib: “Vegan?”

      Hexbear “Aren’t there free tacos?”

Lib: “No.” Then cheerfully: “But I can give you a No Kings pin that my eight year-old daughter help me make!” He hands her one.

Hexbear “Um… Thanks. I can’t quite make out what’s on.”

Lib: “I know. It’s kinda small. That’s Baby Trump crawling on the ground in a diaper and his crown fell off and broke. Totally broke. No Kings!”

      Hexbear “Oh.”

      Lib: “Great - right?!”

Hexbear “I just remembered. I have a very important meeting to attend.”

Lib: “You’re gonna miss the protest? The more the merrier.”

Hexbear “It’s a support group for ‘I left the oven on’. But thanks again for the pin! Bye!” - starts bicycling away.

Lib: “Bye.” Soon starts googling “support group for I left the oven on”. He hates giving pins to people who don’t deserve them.

  • If I went I’d probably have an aneurysm. This is not a means of enacting change, it’s just a lot of people walking. There are no demands, no threats, nothing of the sort. I’m shocked why people think this is remotely effective.

I saw some people on the corner in my town, decided to get out and talk to them. I asked how they would feel if I open carried next to them and they said definitely no. Got talking to the organizer, and get this, her husband is a cop! Liberals aren’t real I swear to god.

in my city, this was the biggest protest turnout of all time. and all I could think about was the fact that they’re just walking around not demanding anything and just holding up signs before going home to watch YouTube and make lunch. literally, by like 11:30am it was disbanding.
