The media will use this to make him look good while subsequently glossing over every single thing this 80’s villain slime ball has done to be a part of the problem.

And I hate that it’s probably gonna work.

I learned the term only a few days ago but I didn’t google it. It seemed to be a very old-fashioned phrase and very English. I googled it right now. A Redditor said

Calling someone an “old sock” is a thing, but not meant as a insult. It’s used for old people in an endearing way.

Don’t ask me how - but I had ended up on the Wikipedia page for “Old Sock”. It made me laugh and it seems like something that isn’t real but a comedy skit.

Old Sock (2013) is the nineteenth solo studio album by Eric Clapton. […] He was inspired to name the album Old Sock from a conversation with David Bowie. After hearing Bowie’s then-new song “Where Are We Now?”, Clapton sent a note thanking him “for writing such a beautiful song”. Bowie responded, “Thanks for the shoutout, old sock. Really appreciate it.” Bowie allowed Clapton to use the phrase for his album title and share the story of their conversation. Following Bowie’s death in 2016, Clapton wrote “Sweet dreams old sock” on his Facebook account.

The album cover is a selfie Clapton took with his iPhone while on holiday in Antigua.

      The nebulous quality of " l e a d e r s h i p " will be praised by the media

Dems really love " l e a d e r s h i p " too. The concept is a thought terminating cliché for them. Libs poke fun at Trump endlessly when he says stuff like “straight out of central casting”. But Newsom is exactly that for libs. He’s Obama 2.0. For them he looks the part of a leader with strong leadership skills who knows how to lead.

I bet if I looked at articles from 2009 just months into Obama’s presidency I could find articles applauding his leadership ability even though he hadn’t even done anything yet.

Trump is watching Fox News. Newsom is being interviewed and he’s trying super-hard to gain at least a tiny bit of right-wing cred.

Newsom: “I will arrest and imprison homeless people. Law and order must be maintained.”

Trump tells an aide - "You know what? I just got a real, real good idea. Make a post ‘Law and order must be maintained. Very, very big reveal tomorrow.’ "

The aide says “What is the big reveal?”

“I will arrest and imprison Newsome people.”

“You will arrest and imprison Newsome?”

“THAT’S WHAT I SAID! I WILL ARREST AND IMPRISON NEWSOME PEOPLE!”

The aide needs to leave the room ASAP because Trump is dangerous in this state. “My battery is dying. I’ll be right back.” He hurries away and leaves.

Trump is alone. To the screen in a small, childlike voice he says “I will arrest and imprison Newsome people.” He’s drooling a little in anticipation.
