This whole situation smells like chronically online. While I have seen a trailer once I have no idea how this game can be ruined by weird redditors or pedophiles. Maybe because I try to not engage with these groups (show Venn diagram here)?

Either a game is shit or it is not. I don’t care much fur the opinion of weirdos and even less that of creeps.

The only reason I know about this game at all is because I keep seeing internet slapfights between pedophiles sexualizing the child character that is apparently in the game and people who don’t like pedophiles. And I’m pretty sure I’m not alone. I think the only reason anyone knows about this game is because of the vocal pedophile base it has attracted.

From looking at the steam store page it does not look like the character gets portrayed in problematic ways. Not sure why I would want to engage with pedophiles over their mental health issue, but a fact is these people exist (1 to 3 out of a hundred was it?). Does the game try to appeal to them? For me it does not look that way at all and with that I can personally decide whether or not I want to consume this piece of media. You can’t heal these people. You can’t help them and you won’t change them. That is what therapy is for.

I really have no idea what you’re trying to say. I don’t care about this game. I don’t know what it’s about, or what genre it’s in. It might be a first person shooter implementation of the royal game of ur for all I know.

But I know pedophiles love it.

Sure but I reckon you didn’t learn about Charlie and the Chocolate Factory for the first time from its extremely vocal pedophile fanbase. Because, you know, that doesn’t exist.

Just because you did not come across a discussion of pedos about which movies they like most, does not mean it does not exist.

Prior to this thread I did not know about this game in this way. So what does that say about you? Nothing really, aside from that you were unlucky enough to come across the wrong space of internet.

And honestly I doubt that it will have any real impact on the game. You never heard about it before? Then you would not have bought it anyways. You wanted to get it before? You probably won’t let a vocal fringe minority keep you from consuming what you want.

i’ve seen two trailers for it and have not directly observed the pedos but it was a pretty easy guess to make.

you can like the aesthetic, the story crumbs, what is seen of the setting, the mechanics shown…

it’s not knowing ahead of time whether you’ll enjoy the game or not, although that is also somewhat possible to extrapolate with genre literacy.

Curious or interested, sure. But a fan? No, that’s terribly depressing. All anyone outside of the studio has witnessed so far is an advertising campaign. There’s nothing wrong with being a fan of things, but someone being a fan of this is just someone being manipulated by marketing.

It was one of the reasons I got a PS5, but I also haven’t been paying attention to anything anyone has said about it on the internet aside from “it’s still in development”.

The cinematic looked nice, and the gameplay seems slightly tedious. It reminded me of P. N. 03 with a hint of Kojima.
