“protect the value of food” really hits the nail on the head
First they’ll do what, shame consumers about letting some lettuce spoil that one time? Then they’ll donate some wasted food to food banks or whatever (which they already do) and the rest will go to be anaerobically digested by bacteria, cause god forbid anyone get “suboptimal” food from the dumpster and eat it. Human digestion produces greenhouse gases! its bad for the planet!
This is just like liberal rhetoric about homelessness. We have to eradicate it because living on the street or in tents or huts or encampments isn’t “dignified” but we do that by chasing them around with police violence and private security and pouring millions into the NGO/nonprofit industrial complex to house like 40 people a year, rather than serious investments in public housing and services
YES you get it this is the perfect summation of how i feel about this. it’s pure greenwashing bullshit
the worst thing is in my area we only can donate certain classes of items to food banks the rest goes into the tub. and the company truly exists to keep food prices high nothing more.
Every time I look at stuff on sale or clearance I’m like “well this is just like what the price should be for this shit” I’ll never adjust lol
We’re destined to be the future’s equivalent of the elderly we experienced talking about how in their day a chocolate cost a nickel.
why bother with clearance aisles when there’s purrflectly good dumpsters?
this is capital’s new answer to that question and i hate it
