That’s hilarious given that any “interruptions” while using ad block are significantly less than ads that are over a minute long with zero nutritional content.

What pisses me off about that little box the most, is it loads instantly. Even if everything on the page loads near instantly that box will show up first. I know its because the ad didn’t play so YT freaks out, but if it waited just half a second, it wouldn’t bother me so much.

And their stupid idea to “translate” the audio. No thanks, I want to listen to the original. If I ever want to listen to a robovoice reading a bad translation, I will gladly tell you.

Gotta love when YouTube auto dubs a video in my own native language. I guess it’s impossible for someone to speak 2 languages

I’ve done a lot of work to make sure i don’t get ads in my various types of media. Because i rarely see them, i feel like i have less patience for them now. If it ever comes to the point where i can’t use youtube without seeing ads, I’ll just not use it anymore.

Google won’t mind seeing me go; they only see people as ad revenue or data points, and they’re not really getting either from me.

Artificial interruptions. They also lag your browser if it isn’t shitty chrome. I created a virtual card and loaded it with a couple dollars and tried the free trial to see if it was firefox causing the lag. Guess what? YT magically was loading fine on firefox.

Coughing Baby (annoying YouTube popup trying to make me to turn off ad-block) vs. Nuclear Bomb (right-click block element with uBlock Origin)

The real kicker is I’m not experiencing interruptions at all. I’d pick this little pop-up hanging on my screen for a few seconds over a loud annoying ad with dumb music and stupid sounding voices any day.

That’s why I like this pop-up. It confirms to me that not only is my ad blocker working to hide their ads, it’s even defeating their “intentional interruptions” scripts. I guess they’re using those to try to convince people to disable / remove their ad blocker? But, I don’t even notice any interruptions. Good job stack of ad blocking software. One of you did the job!

As someone who used adblockers since before that little popup existed, I never associated it with asblockimg. I just thought I had crap internet.

Pretty smarmy - yes, I get it, google, you’re being bitchy because I dared, I had the temerity, to try to watch some shit in a private window. Do you expect me to hand you a straight setup for the lecture just because of the “hey, this sure is slow eh? nudge nudge, wink wink”

Temerity: unreasonable or foolhardy contempt of danger or opposition : rashness, recklessness

For anyone else that has never run into this word before. Good vocab, homie.

The funny bit is non-browser clients never have to deal with this shit even when they block ads (GrayJay/Newpipe/YTRevanced)
