Yeah I agree but I’d rather see neither. Aging gracefully is better than plastic surgery but I hope anti-aging geroscience develops significantly within the next decade so that I can essentially perpetually look 30 or so and feel 25.

Hope its not a pipedream. It might be though.

Even in this image, which has probably been manipulated to make her look older, she still seems to have aged better than the distorted faces of some others who probably spent hundreds of thousands on cosmetic surgery. She’s about the same age as Bezos’ wife for a point of comparison.

My theory is that like in many areas of their life celebrities lack foresight about their facial features. Plastic surgery does not change to accommodate their aging face like their natural skin would.

Scar tissue behaves weirdly. Also, if you do it once at 35, you’ll probably do it twice at 40, thrice at 45, and never stop trying to get back to something that can’t exist anymore.

          Yup.

Scar tissue is actually fascinating-- did you know it’s not made of cells? It’s just a protein (collagen) that your body maintains (unless you don’t have enough vitamin C-- see also Scurvy).

That is a refreshingly good and healthy view from a celebrity.

I used to get those two confused also, until Gwyneth paltrow started becoming extremely eccentric and I realized Cameron Diaz has a much nicer personality than Gwyneth paltrow. Speaking of G.P., tangential thought I keep having & have never uttered anywhere before: I think her role in Shallow Hal made her extremely image-conscious, fat phobic, and borderline anorexic. That role seems to have really messed with her mental health.

I’m asking if you’re making a reference to Goop, or you’re just making fun of older women. If it’s the latter, even if this particular photo is aged up artificially, older women do look like that and have no problem speaking.

It kinda does if Cameron Diaz is saying “Don’t be like Gwyneth Paltrow”, but who knows. I think you’re right about the filter anyway

I mean, accepting you’re aging with grace is way better than publicly displaying you’re actively fighting a losing battle. We have not made strides so great with medical procedures that you can’t tell you’ve had alterations done. Get enough of them and you look like a lizard person. She absolutely owned her beauty when it was external, now is the time to show the character behind the skin is worth knowing. She’s doing that with statements like this imo. But I don’t know if that’s worth anything.

This quote has to be bullshit. Cameron Diaz had a lot of work done and has been open about regretting that. It’s too late now tho, her face is all plastic and will never look normal again.

    Edit:

Looked it up, not bullshit, she actually said it. 20/20 hindsight…

While I agree that it’s terrible that people feel pressured to get surgeries they regret, I don’t agree with using that kind of shaming language. Just let people be.

Almost like it’s incredibly hard to not succumb to societal pressures of anti-aging especially when you’re in the public.

Hahahaha yeah yeah, you first, my dude. I’m sure you’ve never done ANYTHING that you regretted or was influenced by outside pressures.

I’m just so thrilled that all the Lemmy users here are making fun of a woman’s face. It’s such a good use of your time and energy.

Certainly choosing to be respectful of how another person looks would be doing the hard thing?

I think there is value in agressively spreading anti-anti-aging messaging, but yeah you have to be careful about the people you’re talkingg about while doing it.

I get you, however people can change their minds. Per your comment, she regrets the work she had done. Perhaps she’s saying this now because of what she went through, and not only follows what she now believes but also hopes to inspire others before they make the same mistake.

she probably sees in all the hollywood women who has plastic surgery and botox, they had to keep up the looks or else they dont get cast in any roles in hollywood. also botox causes atrophy so people are addicted to getting more.

if anyone watches ISAIP show you can see the drastic changes with rob and kaitlyn in the show from 1 season to another.

Aaah mannnnnn don’t get me started on Kaitlyn’s plastic surgery, and of course Rob’s bothers me too. Funnily enough Glen’s doesn’t bother me because well…Dennis. He’s all about demonstrating that value.

Luckily, I’ve noticed in the last couple of seasons it appears they’ve all either stopped or cut way down on the work they’ve been getting. IMO it was incredibly distracting and super unrealistic for the characters they play on the show. IMO again, I think it would have been super funny and easy to write in the work they’ve had done into the show, esp since they’ve been leaning quite hard into physical cringe/discomfort humor.

Interesting what you said about pressure to look good in Hollywood, as IIRC Kaitlyn did mention this in an interview a while back.
