If you want you could try saying softer things like “I didn’t love it, but” and follow with conversation about aspects you did enjoy. That way you both get a better picture of your tastes and can make better recommendations.

I don’t know why people don’t just litter train their dogs so that they can take care of themselves during work and sleep hours. If they have nowhere to go in the house, they’ll go by the door if you’re lucky, or somewhere hidden so that you have to hunt around for where the smell is coming from while they writhe with guilt and anxiety. Wood pellets are your friend.
It depends on the person. Some asexual people can be quite sexually active because they don’t mind or enjoy helping with their partner’s sexual needs even though they’re not directly interested.

PC Master Race@lemmy.world•Valve reportedly almost delisted Rainbow Six Siege from Steam after Ubisoft attempted to sell it cheaper on UplayEnglish
1·3 days agoSource of your quote: https://www.pcgamer.com/gaming-industry/gabe-newell-on-steam-monopoly-accusations-gamers-have-enormous-choice-about-where-to-buy-games/
To me it sounds like he’s concerned about choosing his words very carefully to avoid admitting any illegal practices. I wish I could read the actual transcript of the deposition. In a legal context requiring that the price on Steam be lowered to match the price on another platform is distinct from requiring that the price be raised on another platform, even if the real-world effect amounts to the same because they can’t afford to lower the Steam price. Whether or not his answer makes sense depends on how the question was worded.

PC Master Race@lemmy.world•Valve reportedly almost delisted Rainbow Six Siege from Steam after Ubisoft attempted to sell it cheaper on UplayEnglish
5·3 days agoMy understanding of the policy is that Valve requires the Steam price to be lowered to match the other vendor, not necessarily that the other vendor’s price be raised to match the price on Steam.
I don’t think it’s fair to say that they have nothing to do with other store fronts because they affect each other. If the apple farmer I work with sets up a stall across the street with prices lower than my shop, that’s going to impact my apple sales. I might look into sourcing cheaper apples or dropping the fruit entirely from my selection. Why should I be forced to stock their product?
I think if you can’t tell the two categories apart you should talk about it with a healthcare professional. I don’t know what it’s called in English, but there exists a type of therapy focused on teaching and developing skills that could be helpful.
This is valid:
It triggers my flight or fight response when someone has too much on and I can’t accurately make out their features.
This is needlessly insulting:
the single ugliest thing a person can do to them self. Its vile and revolting.
Having a preference and whining are not the same thing.
Things that are fine to say in relevant social contexts:
- You look really cute without makeup.
- I prefer lighter makeup.
- I love heavy makeup looks.
- I have sensory issues and can’t stand the smell of makeup at all.
Things that are creepy to say in any context:
- Women use makeup as a lie to trick men.
- I want a traditional woman who doesn’t paint her face like a clown.
- I don’t know how she expects to attract a man when she’s not even putting in any effort to do basic makeup.
- I bet she’s really ugly without all that makeup.

1·13 days agoIf you’re committing a genocide to save the environment
This is what I don’t get about the issue. I’m sure there are plenty of racists out there using “the environment” as a justification for spreading genocidal ideas, but why is it being brought up in leftist circles like any of us is taking about doing murder or restricting birthing rights? Who is calling for these things?
I think overpopulation is a problem, and it’s solved by abolishing capitalism. Billionaires need us to keep producing ever more workers for their infinite growth. They oppress anyone with a womb as breeding machines and enact policies and propaganda that encourage large families. If we abolish capitalism our per capita impact will decrease due to the removal of constant growth and overconsumption. If we provide people with education and healthcare the global birth rate will decline of its own accord. It has nothing to do with fascism.
Instead of calling anyone who mentions overpopulation a fascist, why not direct them to an actual solution that’s good for everyone?

Today I Learned@lemmy.world•TIL that eating dirt was common in the U.S. South until the 80s. People ate a handful a day, often seasoned with vinegar and salt.English
3·19 days agoI can’t speak for these specific people, but I know that eating clay can absorb toxins, like the kinds of poisons plants make to stop you eating them. There’s also potentially mineral supplementation and introduction of beneficial bacteria.
But it’s not very safe to eat dirt in modern times because we’ve poisoned a lot of the soil with various substances. You can buy edible dirt which is known to be safe.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Should hate speech be protected under freedom of speech laws?
1·21 days agoI think so, in the sense that the tax is enforced by state violence. The system should be redesigned such that the school is no longer reliant on extorting non-consenting parties in order to function effectively.
Your source is about the healthfulness of lowering the glycemic load of one’s diet, not the uselessness of calorie counters. In addition to counting calories, such apps can be used to count total carbohydrates, fiber, added sugars, protein, and electrolytes, all of which are extremely useful on a keto diet.

My only issue with it is the last few minutes being a return to the status quo. I would have liked it if they portrayed a little bit of ongoing community organization, the kind of actions the viewer can take today without any superpowers.
