It is really all over the entire spectrum of Swedish healthcare going down the drain. Cutbacks and savings everywhere in the public sector to fund tax cuts that are huge for the economic elites and marginal for everyone else. Deporting young people that are well integrated in Swedish society with work and paying taxes and have no connection to their parents former homeland. Yet people vote for the right wing and our social democrats are ideologically lost while trying to appeal to right wing voters and tip toeing across the center. I think it will become worse and that this is exactly the extremist breeding ground that the far right nationalist party SD (unsurprisingly more or less openly nazi only thirty years ago) have in their long term plan for power.

Back then I was sysadmin and we were running NT4 just fine with remote updates and without any unapproved software and fuck me if it would be a problem that Jeanette (57) in economy would be happy to have her grandchild for desktop backdrop while crunching numbers all day long. These are the small things that make people’s lives worthwhile in the workplace. My opinion is that it’s worth it and if it is not then the company isn’t worth it.
Back 25 years ago the company I worked for was looking into changing the computers for thin clients, then powered by JAVA, aaand of course dynamic workplaces that gets reinvented every seven years or so.
In the end they decided not to because people wanted to feel that they had their desk with their computer and not a floating office limbo as daily reminder that they are replaceable labour.
But most of all, their stationary computer had a CD ROM so they could listen to their own music while working and the thin clients couldn’t even customise your wallpaper.

PS. That was not an accusation but an observation of the normalisation of porn in all its varieties that suggests it would be remotely needed to distance one self from kiddy porn. But for people that are not desensitised to having porn exposure 24/7, it is really weird for somebody to mention that they are not into child abuse.
