Is the left-handed one implying that he’s already cheating on her or that he would masturbate for the rest of his life

ADHD@lemmy.world•Is it okay for a therapist to tell me to just accept this trait?English
2·11 days ago[2 small paragraph pre-amble. Skip to the number 1 if short on time]
You know, I actively sought out an ADHD diagnosis (am now diagnosed) after my focus in college seemed to go into freefall.
But I’ve also found out that depression can cause people to have the same symptoms (with some even claiming that depression causes brain damage, which I try and avoid thinking about).
So I’m in a stage of wondering if I was just severely depressed, as it got worse the more that depressing things happened to me. I’m annoyed that the doctor I initially saw didn’t pry for that more

In your case, by not even exploring the ADHD fully (with medication for instance) the therapist is not allowing you to fully explore these options and figure out which one it is. I do think that’s a bit negligent. Maybe he is waiting for your go-ahead or doesn’t want to involve other professionals (psychiatrists + pharmacists for instance)

The zoning out thing def sounds like ADHD to me. If you forgive yourself for taking breaks and schedule in the time for them, you’ll be more productive. Zoning out like that would perhaps be considered a “little break” and that’s why it takes you longer to do tasks - but we just have to accept it will take us a bit longer to do many things.

I guarantee you will still want to eat some bread later, and you’ll even thank your past self for making the bread

2·15 days agoIn the context that his padawan Ashoka actually ran away and left the order, it’s even more ridiculous that he even put on a hissy fit over it. But of course, the jedi council / republic were at fault for chasing her away in the first place, so arguably Abakin expected them to make an exception
I won’t object to someone doing this as long as they shut up about it, don’t boast to me about it, and basically don’t say any of that stuff in the speech bubbles under any circumstances. I find that these kinds of people are unbearable and eat other Christians alive rather than nurturing a community.

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•Now is a great time to try an open mic, just print out some of the Epstein emails, find some good bits and read them into a microphone!English
4·16 days agoI feel like never before in history has it been more evident that the super elite are not having fulfilling lives themselves.
For instance: recently, Elon was slandered by some writer saying he can’t appreciate art + movies properly, and since then he’s made a big show of commenting on all the “movies” pages on X-twitter.
So performative. Like Donald Trump’s behaviour rubbed off on him.
As for the others - Bezos and Zuckerberg and more - well, they just seem to be having an awkward time whenever in the public eye. They struggle to find uses for their time and money and end up sending pop stars to the moon and such.
It’s like you said - can you imagine how unfulfilled and disconnected from real life people like Jeffrey Epstein were, to decide their effort was best spent organising an industry of kidnapping, blackmail + sexual slavery? Either the man was a demon, or he was so profoundly impotent - emotionally and conventionally - that he only got his kicks from abusing minors.
It’s definitely a warning sign to anyone still playing the capitalist game.

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•We shouldn't have to go to college in order to afford a house by 30.English
171·23 days agoWhen we’re at school the teachers never actually take the time to talk about:
- what non-university educated careers
- what they involve
- how to pursue trades based jobs
And it’s weird, because I’m sure everyone would love to at least dabble in woodworking or some other form of craftsmanship. But they don’t get the chance to.
The school-university pipeline works for a lot of people, but I don’t think uni straight after school is the ideal situation for most people. It means we lose sight of what education is actually for, outside of progression to further qualifications

i don’t smoke weed and I haven’t watched kurzgesagt in a long while - but I have to say, isn’t this a staunch change in direction from their usual content? On a few occasions it’s seemed like they’re being lobbied to push a particular concept and this is one of those times, for me.
Thumbnail (“you’re too old for it”) is bad because really weed should used medicinally - for old people and adults - rather than recreationally, for young people. Where it might actually effect brain development to some extent.
