As a person with an irritable bladder. 90%+ of the time a public washroom or easily accessible washroom would be preferred and would stop me from peeing on random shit.

Canada@lemmy.ca•Liberals’ lead shrinks as Canadian mood plummets to historic lowsEnglish
4·2 months agoYeah, 100%. The false dichotomy and the first past the post system really hurts us. Sadly getting that changed is something people don’t focus on enough. We were “supposed to” have electoral reforms under the prior liberal leadership, but everyone forgot to bring it up ever again.
But saying they are “the same” really pushes that they are both “equally acceptable”. Which I feel undermines the system even further. We need to emphasize the better then push them away from the worse. Right now they ratchet to worse because voters move with the “center” which is a sliding scale. As long as people feel they are equally “bad” then there isn’t a big push to change things the same way as if they go “they both suck here is why one sucks more and let’s push the better one to be better in areas they suck in” or "let’s vote what we believe and stop being “stratigic” which would show parties where they actually should move to

22·2 months agoNot true, PP would also be directly and purposefully eroding minority rights and be attacking the vulnerable. Carney is at least leaving them alone. As a minority that is being directly targeted in the states right now I am really happy to be in Canada with a PM that isn’t spreading active hate towards me right now. Instead I live in a province where that’s happening. I will take only one level of government hating me.

3·5 months agoDidn’t Wesley go to some special testing that had the geniuses competing for one specific seat. I recall he basically went there because there happened to be a particular available slot rather than just the general admission.
From the episode:
Captain’s log, stardate 41416.2. We’re orbiting Relva Seven, where Wesley Crusher is about to be tested for entrance into Starfleet Academy.
CHANG: I’m proud of all of you. You’ve done a superb job. Each of you would make a fine Starfleet officer. It’s unfair that only one candidate from Relva will attend the Academy this year, and a loss to the Federation if the rest of you do not return to test again. Mister Mordock will be the candidate. His results were slightly higher than Mister Crusher’s. Congratulations, Mister Mordock. You’re the first Benzite in Starfleet.
So I think it has much more to do with the timing of his attempt that mattered. Had he just waited with everyone else it wouldn’t have been such an intense competition

Canada@lemmy.ca•Alberta teachers vote 95% in support of strikeEnglish
18·6 months agoThey have a certain amount of time with this vote to actually do anything with it. The timing of this vote will allow them to negotiate over the summer with the mandate in their back pocket and have the actual strike potentially be in the fall as school is supposed to be coming back.
They do it now because it becomes really hard to organize a vote as soon as summer hits.

21·7 months agohttps://gizmodo.com/plex-is-going-to-make-you-pay-for-its-best-free-feature-2000578442
From what I have been reading they are planning to charge all users who are streaming remotely… Even if the host is paying.
“If you want to watch you library away from home you’ll have to pay. It also affects anyone you share your home library with. They will have to pay if they are not Plex Pass subscribers themselves. Plex will offer a Remote Watch Pass tier for $2/month or $20/year.”
Now, I am not saying this is by any means a big amount of money or making a judgment call about the reasonableness of them charging for what services… But it definitely seems like they want to ensure they are getting cash from everyone who ever touches Plex. Again, $2 a month is very little, but that’s on top of the charges for the host
