3 passes. Face lather. Excellent shave.
I had a very close and comfortable shave with this Filarmónica 14 and its Black Shadow edge. This was the fifth edge I’ve tried in my 14 Shoot-out series. While the entire shaving experience was completely enjoyable, I could not detect anything about the edge that would let me know that it was created on a Black Shadow. I can tell that it is not one of the other types of edges I use more frequently. It might be interesting to compare this one with an Escher edge.

The Legacy is such a fantastic razor.
I agree, the Legacy is just great. Checking my razor/blade combo entries in the SDS, Lab Blue doesn’t rate very highly for me with the Legacy. I only have very limited data on it, though – a sample size of 1!
Interesting. Could be worth revisiting, it’s one of my favorite razor/blade combos.
Though Lab Blues work well for me in pretty much every razor I’ve tried.
I’m definitely going to revisit. Lab Blue is one of my usual favorites, as is the Legacy. Not all blades work with it though, like my other favorite Bolzano… pretty bad combo.
Man, such a YMMV thing. I got great results from Bolzano + Legacy! 😂
Crazy! Well actually, which Bolzano? The new ones are probably better than the old ones. (German are older, Egypt newer)
We’ll never know. I finished the one tuck of them that I had and didn’t note where they were made.

Back in February, u/geekyoldrob asked for brush handle ideas. I had never heard of that happening before, so I jumped on the opportunity. A few days ago, Rob replied with this beauty!
Not only a beauty, this handle is also super comfortable. Maybe unsurprising, since it’s basically a screwdriver handle. It’s one of my sillier wetshaving indulgences, but none has sparked this much joy in a long while 😊.
The first use of the v28 was a bit funky-smelling (more so than a regular Tabac shave, for the haters :)), but I’m looking forward to seeing how it’ll break in.

I think it looks like a great ergonomic solution, much like the Rubberset 400 handles. Nothing silly about that. Good to see that I wasn’t the only one who thought of a screwdriver shaped brush handle for superior handling. Now someone has to actually make them with a rubberized/silicone coating like my Würth multitool 😏

I’d definitely buy one. Personally I think good handling of a brush is as important as the right size and loft of a knot.

Visually this lather is very disappointing, but luckily it provides good slickness and is even usable with a straight razor! The razor felt great today, actually. I only stropped it 30 times compared to I think 70 last time… and it felt better.
