The South may have lost the war, but they definitely won the Corrupt Bargain.

Well you prevent them from holding office (ever) for being traitors, enforce fair elections and educate the majority. None of which was done.

They’re absolutely going to try to whitewash Gaza. I’m in disbelief at the number of people in my very blue state claiming Israel is just taking Palestine from land that Palestinians stole from them.
Propaganda works, unfortunately. And Israel puts a great deal of effort into spreading propaganda here in the US.

I had a HS history teacher decades ago who chose to cover Israel as an entire section of the course. Israel was unquestionably the good guys. The 1967 war of attrition was glazed so hard and our cringe asses bought it. The culpability of the international community for creating and perpetuating this problem was not on the test.
“We support them because they’re God’s Chosen People!” He once said.
But even that teacher has gone 180; and publicly acknowledged and denounced Israel’s deliberate genocide of innocent Palestinians.
We’ve all been told lies for decades.
Israel might as well have wrote the book on lobbying. Their views are so entrenched in many Americans that it seems counter culture to call out genocide.
History was written by the winners.
That doesn’t keep traitor lovers from writing their fanfiction.
