Misogyny is talked about a lot more than it used to, but then there’s the Andrew Tates of the world getting more popular. Are things better, worse or the same overall?
As with most things, it depends on where you look. In general though, there appears to be less open misogyny in the physical world. Especially since cameras and microphones are a lot more prevalent. People aren’t as likely to say misogynist things when they know that their job/reputation is at stake.
That’s a really good point, and most importantly their behaviours in work have had to change. They know they can’t just promote men etc
When I was working at Oracle I was close friends with some coworkers and we ended up talking about salaries and I really do think they pay women less, at least in our subdivision of it. Hard to say if it’s better or worse than 10 years ago cause I had just graduated highschool then, but there’s still a long ways to go.
It’s definitely getting worse in the US.
In the US, I think it’s generally better among most people. Among some, recent cultural shifts have given them the feeling that it’s okay to do and say anything without repercussion.

There’s definitely less in construction than it used to be. It’s still there but it’s a lot less. In Alberta at least. There’s just been a loud screaming minority telling on themselves online. And everyone hates them.
It’s interesting it’s improving in construction cos people would often assume it would be bad there. What do you think has improved it?
I think it has a lot to do with the attitudes of the millennial generations changing the work culture. You get a lot less assholes screaming at apprentices and shit now too.

It’s a difficult one to call. There’s a lot in the media narrative about misogyny, it’s being verbalised as a problem. People of all genders are more aware of it… ten years ago if you pointed it out, people would look at you like you had 2 heads. Nice men are aware of the need to protect women more, and IME do it more and women don’t face as much derision for saying it’s happened to them. There’s also Me Too, which did a lot to show what women can go through, and how dangerous a chunk of men are. Victim blaming is less bad.
However, misogists are now able to gather in numbers and get their views validated or worsened. There’s a lot if behaviours that haven’t changed, like targeting women for verbal attack over something. Crimes against us don’t seem to be going down, and there’s still not enough awareness of male violence. Incels aren’t accepted as terrorists. Worldwide women’s rights are poor.
Overall I’m not sure it’s better
