It’s something we need to do sometimes to stay safe. What are things you’ve said?

I guess it wasn’t technically a lie, but my manager at the restaurant I worked at would “jokingly” ask me on a date at least once a shift we worked together, if not multiple times. Finally, I said yes, also jokingly, and to pick me up the next day. After he obviously didn’t, every time he would ask again I told him I gave him a chance and he stood me up. He stopped asking a little bit after that

In the past I’ve had various fake boyfriends. Most notable was when I was 16, a 28 year old had taken to hanging round with my friendship group 😱 I saw him on a night out and he creeped right over to me. I grabbed a lad I knew, shrieked “this is my boyfriend say hi!” Then passionately snogged the lad until the creep creeped off creepily.

I was around before mobiles so when asked for my number I’d switch two digits round. That way I could cover it as a mistake if needed.

Some guy in his car rolled up to me as I walked out of Walmart and was like “hey can I get your number?” I said no, he then said “come on ill give you a hundred dollars” (Mind you, I was wearing sweats, hair messed up, so i wasn’t wearing anything provocative)

I said no again. Then I got into my car, and he started following me. I had to haul ass just to shake him so he wouldn’t know where I lived.

    The nerve of that guy.

What i should have done (instead of being passive) was say, “HEY! if you don’t back the fuck off I’m calling the police”

I thought he’d take no for an answer. I should have not been so passive is my thought. When someone is crossing the line like that it’s ok to be rude.

Remember, if you ever find that you’re being followed, DO NOT GO HOME. Go somewhere very public with lots of witnesses and either call the cops or wait it out for them to get bored and leave. Depending on the situation, driving to your local police station might also be a good idea, but with the current situation of things, maybe not.

But the last thing you want is to show them where you live. You managed to shake them in your case, but this is more advice for the future.

I’m going to add to this. This happened to a friend of mine and she drove to a police station (or sub station) and parked there. They continued driving. Hopefully that will scare them off if you ever find yourself in a similar situation. But hopefully you never find yourself in a similar situation.

Yep thank you. That’s what I did I drove down the freeway and around a few shopping centers until finally I shook them off.
