This the most crazy take I’ve ever seen. One guy is actively dismantling the government and attempting to steer us into an Oligarchical White Nationalist Ethnostate, and the other is a video game company that overcharges and under delivers sometimes.
You are underestimating how awful the upper management/ownership of Ubisoft is. Their treatment of their employees and their attempted sexual assault cover up. Not just their shitty anti-consumer practices.
That said, I’ll admit I was using a little hyperbole in comparing them to Elon Musk, at least in terms of the consequences of their actions. They’re genuinely really fucking bad though.
Ubisoft sucks, yeah, absolutely, no disagreement there. It’s just kinda funny to compare a video game company that makes games about dismantling governments to a guy who’s actually, currently dismantling a government, hyperbole or no
Their treatment of their employees and their attempted sexual assault cover up. Not just their shitty anti-consumer practices.
Kay that’s just the cost of doing business. Literally every company treats their employees like rungs on a ladder and would try to cover up sexual assault before addressing it. That’s just business. It’s still scummy, but that’s the sort of scum I’ve come to expect from this world. It’s the devil I know.
Elon is a neo-facist, and he’s using his companies to accomplish his goal of normalizing fascism. They’re not comparable. It actually legitimizes Elon when you compare him to them. I don’t see anyone at Ubisoft ziek heil-ing twice so no one can misunderstand them. Elon’s done it a few times.
One is a video game company and the other is a fascist who is helping to dismantle the US government. Ubisoft at its absolute worst doesn’t even come a million miles close to Elon’s evil.
I might have my issues with Hasan directly related to his softballing the Houthis
The kid he interviewed wasn’t part of the Ansar Allah. But even if Hasan did manage to interview one of them, there is literally no difference between bloviating about how the guys fighting against the genocide in Yemen aren’t perfect victims and zionists using the fact that Hamas isn’t perfect to justify their genocide in Palestine.
They published one bad game after another that were commercial flops because of modern predatory videogame practices and them being out of touch with what players actually want.
Also with AC Shadows they managed to piss off an entire nation by being disrespectful to their culture, so much that the issue was brought up in Parliament to the prime minister of Japan.
Hm… Here’s what I think. Because I’ve played Ubi games probably my whole life of gaming, I played AC1. Was okay and boring for me. Then I played odyssey and Valhalla. Loved em. Just long, have no desire to play shadow currently.
But I am playing outlaws currently because it was $35. I don’t see any microtransactions. Story is pretty good, exploration is good, syndicate system is cool. Having a fun time with it. Good game.
Steep and riders Republic are both just chill out and do crazy shit fun. RR dlc kinda sucks though paying for skateboards and other sports but what ever. I like the snow larding and mountain biking the most.
Motorfest is a better forza horizon, it’s more fun. Idk I like both games, but to me motorfest is just better.
The division series is a much better looter shooter than destiny 2 by a million degrees, again, I play and enjoy both, but I just like 3rd person and the more realistic setting in the division.
R6 siege is a game everyone played and still plays a little bit. It’s a good game overall and has nothing new that other companies didn’t already do to make the genre stale.
Farcry games have had the same style and gameplay each game that comes out. But it seems like the community wants a realistic game instead of a balls to wall shooter that it’s always been. 6 has an underwhelming story compared to the earlier games. But the gunplay was far better.
Mario vs rabbids is just a fun strategy game.
Ghost recon reboots and open world are fun, just not realistic enough imo. But still a fun sneak around and pop heads kind of game.
We need a new splinter cell though 100000%
So from my perspective…I see people hating on Ubisoft because of microtransactions that were last seen in R6 however many years ago, people don’t like a black guy as a main character, or a woman as a main star wars character.
I just think people hate on it just to hate it on it when the company makes decent games that are complete I might add. Same goes for EA.
I can’t recall theast game these devs had made that are “half finished and full of bugs” that Indy devs release lately.
Let’s not forget that EA just published split fiction too…so…yeah.
You guys are talking out of your ass and are looking for internet brownies being parrots with no actual hands on play time.
So, a game that required a day 1 patch and made you lose your save data if you played early access (paying extra money) is not released “half finished and full of bugs”, I understand.
You have also conveniently asked what have they done recently to get hatred, then proceeded to mention games from the times when the company was still in its prime. I also liked the Rayman games and the early Prince of Persia trilogy, but they are what, 20 years old?
people don’t like a black guy as a main character, or a woman as a main star wars character.
Ok, racism and misogyny are bad, but if they are being racist toward asians is fine I guess?
If you want to have a proper discussion about why Ubisoft is one step from being sold out, maybe you should first remove your rose-tinted glasses and admit there are glaring faults and that’s why their games are not selling well.
Misrepresented the role of the historical dude (and other historical characters), but we can ignore it since it’s just a fantasy game where you punch the Pope in the face. Even though their marketing guys insisted a lot on historical accuracy…
Used elements from Chinese architecture and south east Asia, because that’s all the same, right?
Copied flags from a Japanese historical reenactment society without permission.
Published promotional material with the design copied from One Piece.
Also, promotional material using the famous Torii Gate that survived the Nagasaki bomb (more insensitive that actually racist).
Included a real shrine with its real name (again, without asking permission) and made the environment destroyable (while other locations are indestructible?). This is what sparked national outrage that reached the parliament and forced a day 1 patch.
I’ll gliss over the rest of the historical inaccuracies because, again, it’s a fantasy game in the end.
If you don’t see any racism and general disrespect for the Japanese culture (which they have supposedly accurately researched), It’s like I said: rose-tinted glasses.
So you’re hating just to hate. Got it. What else would you like to get off your chest? No women in world war one for battlefield 1 and V?
Dragon age veilguard has elf boobs so it’s woke game?
Cyberpunk 2077 you can be trans so woke game?
You’re right. It’s a fictional game with based off random shit. Do you know how wrong odyssey and origins are? But no, ONLY shadows matters because black guy. I guarentee you, you’re just a random snowflake dude who gets upset about shit that doesn’t effect you directly. Right?
All of you’re “talking points” just look like whining points to shit that doesn’t matter where other games have done actual far worse things with no consequences lol. Like playing as a Russian in cod and murdering an entire airport. But no… that’s fine because that wasn’t an Ubi game. So they get a pass.
I’m sorry, but you asked why Ubisoft is getting a lot of hate recently, and you are not liking the answer. It seems to me that you are not even willing to entertain the thought that maybe they are just doing a poor job and it’s not because of racism or whatever. Also, it’s not only Ubisoft, this is just the most trending controversy right now.
Cyberpunk 2077 caught criticism at launch because of piss poor optimization on PC that made GPU crash.
DA Veilguard was generally received as “Mid” by fans of the series.
But sure, let’s close our eyes and blame everything on everyone but the studio.
Man I really don’t know which I despise more, Elon Musk or Ubisoft.
I’m leaning towards thinking Ubisoft is the marginally lesser evil.
(I might have my issues with Hasan directly related to his softballing the Houthis but critical support to the fucker here, easy)

Nobody is underestimating anything, they’re just not comparing video game companies to THE GOVERNMENT OF THE UNITED STATES.
How is the issue here not immediately apparent?
Ubisoft sucks, yeah, absolutely, no disagreement there. It’s just kinda funny to compare a video game company that makes games about dismantling governments to a guy who’s actually, currently dismantling a government, hyperbole or no

Is Ubisoft trying to dismantle democracy? I’m pretty sure one here is way worse.
I mean, they would if they could.
Agreed. UPlay definitely is the worse thing
In terms of consequences yeah you are right. But for once I was comparing character not magnitude of consequences.
If he could, I would not put it past Yves Guillemot to do exactly what Elon Musk is doing.
Who says you need to support one of them?
Both are bad in their own way.
One is a video game company and the other is a fascist who is helping to dismantle the US government. Ubisoft at its absolute worst doesn’t even come a million miles close to Elon’s evil.
I was using hyperbole.

Ah, okay, it really doesn’t communicate well through text.
No you weren’t. It’s clear from your other replies that you were seriously comparing the two.
The kid he interviewed wasn’t part of the Ansar Allah. Actually it’s usually the same person doing both.
Holy shit a balanced Hasan take? In this economy?
Balanced? LOL… Dude compared Ubisoft, a shitty video game company, to the Trump Administration. That’s the dumbest shit I’ve read all day.
What the shit are you even talking about

can i ask you what ubisoft has done recently to get hated on so much? honestly.

How are they being racist when they’re borrowing form an actual historic character. Read up dude.
Im glad you asked. They have:
