@asklemmy How do you listen to music / podcasts? At what places?
For me, I mostly listen on podcasts during my drive or commuting on the train, via bluebooth earphones even in my car.
When doing deep work such as #programming on the computer, I listened to music out loud (bluetooth speaker) in my home office.

So you’re posting to lemmy form mastodon … that’s awesome! (genuinely).
There are a few little formatting things you can do to make it work slightly better however …
You can see what your post looks like here: lemmy.ml/post/2253666
- Treat the first line of the post as the heading (as that’s what lemmy does).
- So keep it clean and avoid putting ats or hashtags in the first line as they’ll create links that make it look messy
- Otherwise, make sure to keep the lemmy community as the first at-tag in the post (eg @ asklemmy @ lemmy.ml). Lemmy will only use the first one.
- Besides that, you can at-tag anyone else you like and use hashtags, just as you have here, as much as you like.
If it’s at all helpful, here’s a quick demo of posting to lemmy from mastodon, with more posts in the thread to illustrate how it can all work together: https://hachyderm.io/users/maegul/statuses/110483509521476095
I had no clue until I clicked a hashtag
For podcasts I use AntennaPod and quite like it. There are some issues with the auto fetching of new episodes though and I need to refresh it manually.
Also using Antennapod. It’s a fantastic piece of Foss. It does have its problems but it’s still great.
AntennaPod is amazing and open source. While I have no problem with manual refreshing it bothers me that the only way to add podcasts is to switch to the dedicated panel via menu otherwise great app
This, also their Android auto interface is atrocious.
Yeah, trying to select something else from the queue doesn’t work
I have a 70 gig iTunes library and still use clickwheel iPods. Primarily in my car
70 GB? Those are rookie numbers.
I know. It’s about 8000 songs. I work off of a 900 song playlist in my car.
I hear Podcast mainly at work. I have a no brain, just work job, so i can hear about 3 Podcast on one Shift. I loved Antennapod, but 2 of my favorite Podcasts are Spotify Exclusives, so i switched to Spotify, wich i only use for Podcast. My Music Streaming App is YouTube Music, because i am YouTube Premium User. I simply hate Adds!
I use AntennaPod for podcast
While working, eating and, running. I’m using Musicolet to listen to music because it allows to swith between song queues without losing the position of the last tracks
@small44 while eating I watch YouTube or browse Lemmy
I use PodcastAddict on my phone. Anywhere. In bed, walking, on the train…
- Music: Spotify
- Podcasts: Pocket Casts
Podcasts in the car to and from work, and while at work (WordPress Developer) with wireless earbuds. I listen to music when I’ve gotten through my feed of podcasts or when reading a book. Lofi and classical are both great for listening while reading, but while coding I prefer high energy music like math rock or metalcore/mathcore.
Some of my top recommended podcasts:
- The Last Podcast on the Left
- My Favorite Murder
- Dungeons & Daddies
- Buried Bones
- Hardcore History
- My Brother My Brother and Me
- Oh No Ross & Carrie
- Ologies
- Sawbones
- Search Engine
- Spooked
- The Wild
so cool to see a mstdn post on Lemmy

I sometimes get to listen at work. I use AntennaPod but it’s queue system is garbage. I only use it for it’s RSS and local folder options (music folder in my podcast player).
PocketCasts but lately more AntennaPod for Podcasts
Plex(amp) and Spotify for music
@techconsulnerd @asklemmy first time im seeing someone post on Lemmy from mastodon. Wonder if they can see my comment??
To answer your question: Spotify and wherever I feel like it. Mostly on my commute though
@lom @asklemmy Yes Lemmy users can see your toot from Mastodon. You can see it here https://lemmy.ml/comment/1778144
I listen to music while working (home office) or when doing anything around the house.
I have a bigger sound set on my desk and two differently sized Bluetooth speakers for carrying around.
My primary source for music is actually twitch.tv. Many really good DJs there with live performance.
Second using twitch for music! I bounce around between djs or that lofi channel with the girl playing games in space
I used to listen while commuting, but since now I work from home, I tend to listen while doing the dishes.
