Personally I would kill myself before even considering talking about my wife’s decisions publicly like this. Can’t imagine giving into a Zionist mob over going to bat for her. This is just shameful man grow a fucking backbone.

Ultimately, the DSA is still part of the Democratic Party because they want to be accepted by liberals. That means following liberal norms and respecting liberal institutions and using the correct liberal tone in public statements etc etc.

Their “socialism” is as an attempt to fulfill the promises of liberalism (equality, fairness, rights, justice, etc etc) and they only see liberals as temporary obstacles that need to be convinced, rather than enemies that need to be defeated.

It’s easy to say this online, but irl it gets really messy fast when every friend you have, every work colleague, your romantic partner, your immediate family, etc. Are all “nice” liberals. It’s something IDK how to overcome. It’s hard to risk pushing your entire social life away for an ideology that it feels like everyone has been trained to hate since they were in diapers.

I think the third-worldists have a point about the class character of first-world workers. They have property, they have investments, they have securities and savings, they have high wages at the top of the production chain, and they have a lot to lose. This aligns them with transnational capitalism against the workers of the world because they benefit from imperialism.

Social democracy is ultimately a project about more fairly distributing the superprofits of empire among first-worlders.

Don’t worry. The bourgeoisie is working overtime to remove those obstacles to class consciousness.

Yeah, the changing material conditions will do most of the work of convincing the first world proles that we need socialism, the danger is that economic resentment can easily transform into fascism. Our job is to convince them of socialism instead of barbarism.
