For decades, I’ve heard how Japan is a leader in robotics because they need the technology to keep care of the elderly while their birth rate drops and their workforce shrinks (“demographic collapse” in hyperbolic terms).
Now there’s the viral spring gala 2026 kung fu robot performance. But I haven’t seen anyone mention that immediately before the kung fu robots was a comedy sketch about robots as companions for the elderly!! I feel like this puts the kung fu robots, performing alongside real kids, in a much different light than how the paranoiac western media has covered the bots

It has been so stupid seeing this video show up in like horror and nope subreddits and shit. Like dude, admit your sinophobia, admit the reason it made you afraid is the same reason the Black Panthers carrying guns made you afraid. It’s laughable.
If a TeSSla bot did the same, they’d be all soyfacing and creaming their pants over how le ebic and awesome Elon is for personally inventing it
Seriously? Wow, I know reddit is bad, but even if I was a mindless racist I would hate that performance for being cute and non-threatening (and trying to trick me into letting my guard down), not think it is actually scary or anything.
