Got it set up tonight and got my steam account linked. Tried a few random games with no luck, but then grabbed one labeled with perfect compatability, but cant get it to start. Any common troubleshooting i can do? I went to the game settings in the app and used the “set all to recommended” option for the game specific settings, and ive got the minimum supported Snapdragon chip on my device.

I was about to start listing hoops I had to jump through over the last couple of days getting a Winlator setup to work pretty well, but I noticed while double checking something that it appears there’s a recent build of Gamehub.

Apparently its the first official build to be listed on the play store, and while I was trying to figure out what the minimum supported snapdragon chip might be I realised a bunch of the recent reviews are from users who know what they’re doing and have excessively powerful devices, frustrated that the new build isn’t running all their previously working configs.

If you’re running a copy from the play store (or the same version anyway) maybe try and find an APK of the last build. Or tbh you could probably get away with anything from the last year or more, at least enough to get a bit of success. That’s assuming that since you’re on a min spec SoC then it’s probably a slightly older generation of tech, so it probably wont benefit as much from having the newest build compared to the decadent shit they’re putting in devices this year.

So, I’ve got a Retroid 5, not the most powerful thing out there but it looks like people have been having success with more intensive things than I was trying to run (Astral Ascent, if you like roguelikes). Pretty much, the ‘minimum requirements’ device.

I posted this question in a retroid specific place too last night, and apparently, changing some components that come built in with the app that are in the settings menu is the key. Gonna try more over the next few days.

I did get the APK from what looks like the official site rather than the play store, so whatever differences there may be, looks like that’s not a factor here.

Would love to hear about Winulator! I actually downloaded that last night too, saw the setup screen, and said “nope this is beyond me.”
