I’m trying to add a subscription here (my account at lemmy.world) too !humor@beehaw.org. Can’t figure out how to do it. Can someone please explain?
If it doesn’t show up when you search for
!humor@beehaw.org
it means your server doesn’t know about it. You’ll have to be the first to subscribe to it and thus get it sent to your server. All communities have this format:
https://instance.tld/c/communityname
You should be able to manually type in beehaw.org/c/humor and it should pop up. The pull can take longer than a regular search, try refreshing if nothing happens.
If STILL nothing happens, visit beehaw and browse their instance list. Is this one blocked? If it is, you’re out of luck because it won’t work. If it isn’t, you’re out of luck because I don’t know what could be wrong.
I believe Beehaw has defederated from lemmy.world.
on my iphone: click the hamburger menu in the top right, click search, Search for “!humor@beehaw.org”, the sublemmy should be listed in the results, click it, then click sidebar, and the subscribe button should pop up.
If it says “sign up or log in to comment” then you got there from outside your instance and can’t subscribe from there.
And since we’re fediversed, in kbin go to magazines, enter your search term. It will search across the fediverse.
Try typing just hu or into the search function. Lemmy.world and beehaw should be fully federated so you shouldn’t have to search the complete path
Beehaw is no longer federated with Lemmy.world
Yeah my comment didn’t age well. Lol.
I ended up spinning up a small instance so I can federate with both
- Start at lemmy.world, click the magnyfying glass up top to search.
- type in the search bar
- click search
- you should see the Jokes and Humor community info popup.
- Click the title of the community to go into the community (but through your server)
- Click the subscribe link in the sidebar
I have a comment here wishing it could be better :/
Communities page, at the top of lemmy.world. Search humor. Click subscribe next to !humor@beehaw.org
You’re on basically the biggest instance so it should definitiely already be there.
