Just write a strongly worded letter to the ghouls in training that staff your rep’s office!! They’re gonna get right on it
And I realize this is nothing new, but it feels like I’ve been seeing it more than usual recently. It’s driving me a bit crazy lol

My hypothesis is that this is because they co-opted a lot of the civil rights movement to elevate some vague sense of “nonviolent protest” to the pinnacle of political action. Obviously this applies to more things, but calling your representative is just the peak of lib action.
Everything I say is going to be entirely vibes-based, but I feel like what the education system here taught about civil rights was a lot of “Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat and MLK led nonviolent protests and did that one speech and the nonviolent protests were so effective in the marketplace of ideas that we ended racism (oh and btw MLK was a moderate who would agree with Republicans today
).” Now libs basically think any action where you make a lot of noise without any material consequences is the best way to create change because everyone’s a rational actor who will always choose the good ideas as long as you put the idea out there and “look!! it worked in the 60s!!” Couple this with the belief that we actually live in a democracy where the government will “listen to the people” and you’ll get people calling their representatives and sending strongly worded letters
Making people feel like they have some sort of control over their government is so effective at pacifying these people.
That’s exactly it. They completely omit MLK applying for a concealed carry license (he was denied) or how he was becoming more and more disillusioned with the US towards the end of his llife. They also ignore Rosa Parks and the Montgomery Bus Boycott was planned months in advance–it wasn’t a spontaneous event. It was an organized protest.
The worst of it all is how liberals reduced MLK to “non-violence” and “peaceful protest.” There’s a difference between that and what MLK actually did, which is civil disobedience and passive resistance. He and the rest of the Civil Rights movement deliberately broke laws or got into confrontations with white supremacists where white supremacists would be the ones who got violent. Sit-ins, handcuffing themselves onto doors of segregated businesses, etc. were all done with the intent of disrupting the bottom line and hitting white supremacy in their wallets.
Libs completely vilify the NoI (there are criticisms to be made here but libs don’t bring them up) and Malcolm X. They are depicted as black supremacists and terrorists, when really they were practicing self-defense. Whitey can excuse shooting homeless people digging through their trash for food, but don’t you dare shoot back at the literal KKK trying to murder your children.
Something something disappointed with the white moderate, something something foxes and wolves.
