Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Be honest: Do you still use mainstream social media?
1·2 days agoI have not in maybe a year except one or two times catching up with long distance family on Facebook. No more Instagram, partially because I can’t log in. They claim I’ve set up MFA and I have not. No more TikTok. I was only interested in lives and those became monotonous and littered with vendors. I watch YouTube videos and shorts but don’t really engage. And definitely no more Reddit. So not really because I’m a federated purist, but just because Lemmy is working for me. Believe me though, as soon as it doesn’t I’m gone.

1·3 days agoThanks! I’ve been using llama.cpp but not married to it. What’s your opinion on used machines? Presumably risky to get a used GPU or they don’t really just fail?

1·3 days agoThanks! I’ll make sure to include Vulcan in criteria for a new machine and I’ll look at intel options. Only been looking at NVIDIA. Even 4GB VRAM will be a huge upgrade for me.

2·4 days agoThose are pretty good results! Unfortunately, I don’t have a GPU at all yet. Any recommendations on something capable yet affordable? What would you buy next?

1·4 days agoThanks! Have you ever used this? I’m also seeing another logic language called Scallop.
I’ve recently started running models locally with llama.cpp, but this seems like a whole other setup.

2·4 days agoSupposed to be combining neural networks (LLM) with symbolic AI so I guess instead of just analyzing tokens it’s also analyzing symbols and rules.

1·5 days agoNice! I want to move away from charging a battery. Plus the battery I currently have won’t charge and provide power at the same time and the place I need it doesn’t have an easy way to connect to panels outside.

1·5 days agoThanks! I was looking at the micro inverters that you can plug 2 or 4 panels into so I presume that’s parallel?
I know you can daisy chain panels too so maybe I’ll look into matching panels and using a single input microinverter.

Mixing meaning panels with different wattages and voltage.
Thanks! I’ll check Hoymiles.
