I would assume that operational and logistics costs apply to this figure. Aka shipping and handling, which is never free.

valkyrieangela@lemmy.blahaj.zoneto News@lemmy.world•Troops and marines deeply troubled by LA deployment: ‘Morale is not great’English154·3 天前I agree, I think there’s clear limits. This isn’t like Russia where they were being told they were being sent to a training exercise, this is an event where everyone being deployed knew exactly the reason and are able to be kept up to date by sources that don’t include their superiors. Being deployed doesn’t mean anything other than they’re getting a bigger paycheck each, and the legality of a domestic deployment for the purpose of crowd control is debatable. The real test of these men will be whether they take the life of a civilian.
There’s a lot of doomers who will base current events off of a TV show they watched, but there is no media in existence nor any historical event that mirrors these circumstances. There are non political guardrails, such as societal conventions, that will realistically play a much bigger role in the coming conflict than people think.
One thing is very clear however: The price of true change is blood.

The only reason there are so many delays is because they’ve been wishy washy about how Jones’ bankruptcy is dealt with. This is stupid.
valkyrieangela@lemmy.blahaj.zoneto News@lemmy.world•Trump preparing large-scale cancellation of federal funding for California, sources sayEnglish28·8 天前Correct. But what you may have implied and got wrong is that this is somehow a bad idea. America is long overdue for a federal collapse. This cultural infighting is unsustainable.
As a new Yorker I am sick of having my tax dollars go to subsidize hicks in the deep south and Midwest that ultimately vote against my rights. I am more than happy to see the bridges that unite us burn because the concept of “unity” in a melting pot is a ticking time bomb, as it always has been.

valkyrieangela@lemmy.blahaj.zoneto [Migrated, see pinned post] Casual Conversation @lemm.ee•What's something regrettable you did to your body?English2·11 天前About two years ago I developed a hiatal hernia that has wreaked absolute hell on my body and my mind. It has been messing with my vagus nerve giving me all kinds of digestional problems. The GI I saw did not take me seriously, told me to change my diet and lose weight. Well gee, thanks for that astute observation, asshole. I guess spending several years giving myself the actual hell of losing weight somehow medically supercedes the feeling of an impending heart attack every single day. To be very clear, I saw a cardiologist who checked me out and said my heart is in very good condition, though I should continue to exercise to strengthen it. This doesn’t change the fact that I have experienced an extensive trauma from the entire ordeal.
I understand the premise but I would have gone with a meatless patty vegan burger loaded with veggies on a whole grain bun, with sweet potato fries prepared air fried.
You can make a traditionally unhealthy meal highly nutritious with the right know-how.

A few days ago I installed Fedora KDE Plasma because I genuinely enjoyed the look and feel of Windows, but I wanted it without the Microsoft part. And I have to say, no regrets. I’m getting everything done without the BS, and all my games work just fine. It did need some very weird tinkering to set it up properly, and I made ChatGPT work overtime to feed me answers. Nobody would have to put in the amount of effort I did though, and if it wasn’t for my niche problems, everything would have been handled without a hitch. The terminal still scares me but I’ve learned several tricks.
