They’re like assassin bugs that go for mammal blood.
While I agree with killing bugs that harm people, there’s a caveat for smashing in particular. Smashing a biting kissing bug will just rub all of its guts and likely Chagas infested feces into the bite. It probably applies to a number of other biting bugs to varying extents depending on how they might spread disease, but kissing bugs and Chagas are the examples I know. Really, I just really think everyone should be aware of Chagas disease and am using this thread as an excuse to mention it.
Especially don’t smash kissing bugs on sight if you’re bitten by one. You’ll probably be fine unless it shits out Chagas disease into the wound. Smashing it basically guarantees you’ll get its fecal matter in the bite, so you’ll have a much higher chance of contracting Chagas disease. Probably applies to some other biting insects.

Apparently PepsiCo just sells unseasoned tortilla chips under the Doritos brand in the UK.
I was curious as to what the old Ron Paul is up to these days, and he’s probably doing exactly what you’d expect. Funny seeing him talk about BRICS though.
that’s basically the same argument they made, yeah :/
i watched it.
it was not worth it.
Just saw “Tankie lemmy devs blacklist the anime instance from join-lemmy.org and lemmy.ml” posted there
communism is when no anime !!!
why are these alleged young conservative taking the liberal commie metro instead of driving pickemup trucks?
last night i dreamt that I joined the juggalo division of hezbollah.
So you think this justifies the incredible racism shown in the original post? None of this is relevant to what was posted.
lame. create a legal path to execute the tobacco company execs instead.
I mean, the “Civilopedia” entries for both is very lib, so that’s probably part of it. The numbers they cite in Civ IV are ~20 million deaths under Mao as well as claiming “up to 10 million dead” in an “engineered famine” under Stalin. In an interview, the original creators said they primarily did all of their research in the children’s section of the library, so that’s probably at least part of the reason for The Black Book of Communism-esque figures. Thankfully, despite eating enough of an anti-communist buffet for an entire kindergarten, they managed to have just enough sense not to put Hitler in any of the games to my knowledge. Even in the baked in WW2 mod for Civ IV, they replaced him in with Franz von Papen(still a fascist piece of shit ofc, but way less name recognition).
edit: this is just the tip of the iceberg really. reading the Civilopedia after getting back into Civ IV has given me psychic harm. The Stalin section is thoroughly packed to the brim with all of the dumb tropes we’ve gotten used to debunking. I’d make a separate post about it if I could find the text files to quote more easily.
Some, like the ivy aphid are already in North America, but I’m not sure how much of a dent it actually makes. There’s great precedent for successful introduction of biocontrol agents for other invasive species. There’s also great precedent for catastrophic failures(especially in instances where there’s a native close relative of a target species), so it’s definitely something that needs to be very carefully explored and not to be done haphazardly.
