This is a dictionary definition. Non-combatant ISIS members are also civilians. Whether they deserve to die or not has no legal bearing. Im unsure why that is considered controversial.

nun@lemm.eeto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's your method of enjoying (or at least tolerating) physical exercise?3·4 小时前I enjoy the social aspect of running. Parkruns, Strava, meeting friends and getting coffee after etc.
This is not the legal definition of civilian.
He is by definition a civilian that was murdered. Legal definitions do not care about our political opinions. It appears to be very likely he was a civilian who deserved to be murdered but that does not change the definition
? Who said he was innocent
Clearly everyone here is illiterate lol
Literally the opposite of what I said. How do you go from ‘hard to feel sad about it’ to ‘ it’s truly terrible’?
Yes? They deserve to be held accountable but even in a fair legal system they would not face the death penalty while those actually directly participating in or ordering war crimes would.
Nah. It’s very easy to argue that murder is ethically wrong or unjustified but it certainly is effective.
I mean he’s still a civilian and it it’s still murder but yeah hard to feel sad about it

nun@lemm.eeto Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•Welcome all new users and Reddit refugees! [PARTNERED POST]1·8 小时前I think the appeal of this one is different instances are ran by different people so you can’t really be “banned from lemmy” unless you seriously deserve to. I think the one you are one (.world) is run by more right-leaning mods while .ml is run by Marxists. No idea if mine has a political affiliation but it was the default option on the app I’ve downloaded.

nun@lemm.eeto Europe@feddit.org•I may be new here, but why is c/Europe all about IsraelEnglish45·24 小时前My top looks different, but these all do in fact seem to be posts about Europe. It’s a major conflict that is getting a lot of media attention and European countries have finally started losing patience with Israel’s actions.
So the way it was explained to me was like email. You can use your Gmail to send an email to someone using Outlook for example. So this post is hosted on for example lemmy.world (I cant actually figure out how to check yet) but I can still interact with it from my lemm.ee account. If for some reason I was banned from .world I wouldnt be able to interact with this post but would still be able to post and comment in any communities hosted on one of the other instances.
