Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•Remember when car controls weren't complicated
18·6 days agoI remember when my car didn’t have a giant ipad that tries to talk to me, miss it too.

Sewing@lemmy.world•Finished my second octoplushy! I'm not giving them names, that's up to the recipients. (Hopefully! I hope the parents like them enough, they're perhaps not very cuddly...) These are both for newbornEnglish
3·6 days agoLooks great! I know my nephew would definitely enjoy a plushy like this, lil man really likes octopi.
Obviously, getting zero pussy made them gay or asexual
Right?

The Onion@midwest.social•Our Mission at the Environmental Protection Agency Is Simple: Destroy the EnvironmentEnglish
4·6 days agoIt’s a genius play, really. If there’s no more environmental problems, then how the hell would environmental agencies make money!?

Solarpunk@slrpnk.net•What's geologic hydrogen? What to know about the clean energy source buried under Michigan.
8·6 days agoWhile it definitely looks promising to use hydrogen for the no-carbon benefits, you do still have to wonder about other environmental impacts. What’s going to happen to when the hydrogen pockets empty? Land subsidence could potentially be a problem, so I think more research about possible side effects is absolutely necessary before any large scale extractions happen.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•How to avoid hating the opposite gender after reading what they write online?
5·1 month agoInteract with them in person. Men and women write a lot of polarising shit online, but once you go outside it’s (usually) not that bad. Sure, there’s always some asshats here and there, but I feel like there’s also a lot more good people around than you realize.
The world’s leaders looked at history, and instead of saying “we won’t make these mistakes again”, they said “we can do it better”.

Memes@lemmy.ml•More than half of US families are one paycheck away from homelessness.
97·1 month agoIf one paycheck is all that stands between half of the people and homelessness, can it really be called the “middle” class?

science@lemmy.world•‘A bombshell’: doubt cast on discovery of microplastics throughout human bodyEnglish
23·1 month agoSo, just science being science then? Disagreements have always been a part of science, and always will be. The only important factor is how they are handled. Think a study is flawed? Repeat it, and change the flaws to see if the results differ significantly. But openly discrediting any evidence (for or against a case) without testing is as unscientific as it gets. I believe the person at the end also has a point: yeah, we don’t know if microplastics are as bad as they say, but better safe than sorry.

Technology@lemmy.world•Amazon is forcibly upgrading Prime members to Alexa Plus, and users are not happyEnglish
52·1 month agoForced upgrades (or downgrades) really are the worst. Same for opt-out services instead of opt-in. Give choice back to the customer goddammit!
I knew a guy named Michael back in high school. He did in fact not stand up when the teacher called another student’s name. He also never stood up when the teachers asked him too, because Michael was in a fucking wheelchair.

First angle was already nice, but now I’m jealous that I don’t get views like that 🥲
