On top of that Americans pay more healthcare related income taxes than anyone else! Those could well be used to cover the expenses of a socialized system. It’s absolutely amazing that people think they don’t need it.

It’s fun to say this, but at least BM is really able to do their main job and preserve the artifacts.
There’s dozens of cases where the original sites have been looted or destroyed by the origin country’s own leaders.
Storing the artifacts outside of the influence of an area’s internal issues is actually really wise. The BM’s real wrongdoing is not paying anything for the artifacts they’ve took. I argue they’ve done enough good to offset that a little. They’re bad but not the worst.
Well yeah that isn’t optimal but I doubt the PC will run any faster. If you were reaching thermal throttling temperatures with that paste you probably will hit them even after replacing the paste. Do you have a program like HWinfo that could monitor the temps and log if you’re hitting the throttle limit?
I saw an interview of a professional on this matter. Unfortunately I don’t remember his name but the points he made were thought provoking.
Today we consume more and faster media than ever, but few people ever spent all their time reading alone quietly or even watched TV focusing solely on the program. We listen to radio or a have conversation simultaneously. Our hunter-gatherer ancestors listened to each other’s stories while doing small tasks in their homes. Conversations between people flow and change subjects constantly. Almost like TikToks.
The point is that it’s nothing new that we engage in a combination of activities and like to surround ourselves with multiple or fast paced sources of information and stimulation.
My personal view is that TikToks being short or fast paced isn’t an issue. But there are other aspects that worry me. Social media videos cause many people to develop various degrees of parasocial relationships with the creators, and the content satisfies the need for actual relationships and can make real life and people seem boring.
Stick to Windows. Linux is fine for IT pros and as a hobby. For graphic design with Adobe I just don’t see your productivity would be the same.
What makes you think that a global crisis would reduce humanity to tribes and clans? Isn’t it more likely that desperate times result in something more like a global government and more systematic enslavement of humans? How could the owning class ever pass on the opportunity of not having to work and instead utilize their workers as efficiently as possible?
I just can’t believe you could wear a flowy floral print summer dress and be considered a dependable guy by everyone. Some cultures put such an high effort to preserve their old ways that I can’t see that going away in 100 years, or even 300 years. The rest of us unfortunately have to play by their rules and taboos.
I love and consume lots of coffee but I sincerely believe it only tastes good because I associate the taste with the boost it gives. Exactly like cigarettes taste tolerable, good even, when you smoke them regularly.
Someone pointed out that Pro version still doesn’t require sign in. I’ve only dealt with Pro and didn’t know it’s different than Home in this thing. Sorry for being overly confident.
Ah I’m sorry I’ve installed Win11 on several computers but they’ve all been Pro version. I didn’t know that Home is different.
You fail to acknowledge that only a tiny fraction of PC users do anything resembling coding. The average user never ever needs a markdown editor or a C compiler.
Oh I never realised Apple OS naming moved past OSX. They don’t seem to use version numbers a lot in their marketing anyway.
Yep, if you can daily any linux distro but struggle to install Windows it’s an attitude issue. Windows 11 is arguably the most user friendly OS ever made.
Windows 11 doesn’t force you do any of that. Just skip the sign in. Your points were valid in 8/10 era but no more.
Yep, I also think that a sizable portion, even most 12 year olds are more tech savvy than their guardians. It makes no sense trying to keep under 13 year olds from using services like tiktok. The laws requiring parental consent are good willing but don’t serve their purpose like intended. We should just focus on making mass media safe for children.
The illegal activity in question is not implementing stricter measures of preventing under 13 year olds of using the service without a parent’s consent. I really wonder how it’s possible to verify a kid’s parent’s consent in the first place. I guess Facebook and others manage to do that but I have no idea how.
I just switched from a TikTok video about low stimulation shows where someone mentioned Bluey in a comment! What an amazing coincidence.
Sad to be honest. People are actively demanding the dismantle of welfare state here in the Nordics too. Arbeit macht frei and so on.
