Games@lemmy.world•Pokémon Lazarus: When a Fan Game Becomes a ConversationEnglish
3·22 hours agoFantastic game. I’ve been playing. Its fun.
But what about my Metacube TM with real ai (totally not spaghetti if/thens)?
Used to play Trumpet.
I still do the fingerings when thinking about music once in a while.

Fediverse@lemmy.world•I think the fediverse needs Android like hardware packagingEnglish
2·3 days agoMost of the fediverse is supported via yunohost so in theory you can just give out: https://doc.yunohost.org/en/admin/get_started/install_on/
Any of these at all. I have a couple of services on it and its as easy as click install.
I think the easiest way to get people on the platform is to just have them sign up on a server (like lemmy/piefed/kbin/etc…etc…) and just let them have at it.
It sounds like the fediverse may not be where you want to be.
I hope you have a great time on another platform. Good bye.
I saw it back in 2019 on the way to Colorado. It was amazing. I really enjoyed it over there near Salt Lake City. Their libraries were huge and (at the time) fastest internet I ever saw.
We saw the lake a couple of years later and it was scary how much dried up. And there were HUGE dust storms at the time that got a ton of sand and salt in the car. Its really sad to see.

Linux@lemmy.world•Please stop asking for One Single Linux Desktop or DistroEnglish
3·3 days agoJust about lol.
!coolwebsites@lemmy.ca That is fairly unique to the fediverse.
If you would like to watch something we have https://piefed.social/f/fediversevideos which is connected to a huge collection of peertube videos.
And !wholesome@reddthat.com has some great content.
Each one of these communities have some great moderators, an awesome community, and fairly unique to the fediverse. Each one comes from 3 separate instances that have done a fantastic job keeping everything running.
Theres good in the fedi. Im having a great time. Go out there and explore. Lots of great communities and people!
“installing” mods? What do you mean?
You can start your own instance right now, throw a community together, invite people over and have a grand old time. In fact, thats how it all works.
Lemmy.world is an awesome instance, but maybe try a couple of instances and see what you like. Its ok to “shop” around per-say. Have fun and enjoy the fedi!

Linux@lemmy.world•Please stop asking for One Single Linux Desktop or DistroEnglish
71·3 days agoIts been somewhat new-ish that ive seen people discussing trying to get one linux distro to use. And why we should push people to use that specific linux distro. Its a strange argument but there are some talking about it.
I dont think it will ever get any real traction for the desktop. However for devices people dont know are Linux to begin with, we may get stuck (like Android for example).
You can disable issues if you want:
I had to do that on a corpo repo to proprietary BS once. It works.
PRs are similar. Just dont allow it and put the rules as such. Or make the repo private. Or even better, self host ;)
For me its JavaScript. But you would not be the first I’ve heard that have talked about the loose typing.
My current job is a mix of old is, python, c#, and SQL. C# is fun to me. And SQL is standard now. Python works and I use it in favor of power shell/bash scripting.
Yes and no. That was around 5 years ago. Now you get to deal with everyone too cheap to do the rewrite, those that will fire you for any downtime at all, or they only want in person in bum fuck nowhere.
Outside of online, I dont mention that I know COBOL. I used to put it on my resume and the kind of offers I would get…where VERY bad. Or had some huge red flags.

Games@lemmy.world•Steam Machine is huge for indie developmentEnglish
8·4 days agoIts so easy to develop for the steam deck and steam devices. Just FYI it really is just another machine. Theres no “unlocking” or “side loading” or anything. Its just a computer. Thats it!

Technology@lemmy.ml•Google is supporting US ICE face scanningEnglish
8·4 days agoAny links to the apps in question?
This is why installing software (side loading?) is so important on our own devices. Who cares if google has a problem? Its my device, I should be able to do what I want with it, including install software.

Technology@beehaw.org•There Are No Weird Blogs Anymore Cause It’s More Fruitful to Drive Them Out of BusinessEnglish
3·4 days agoYeah its an awesome feature. I really like it.
You can combine peertube subscriptions, Lemmy/piefed communities/mastodon accounts just about anything subscribable to a “feed”. Ex: https://piefed.social/f/fediversevideos
If you have a piefed account it helps with keeping up with multiple like communities.

Just FYI, lots of instances are implementing anti scraper/ai tools so the numbers are going to look wacky depending on the tracker.
