Incredible that it’s not written everywhere, I always wanted to use something like this without the " update && upgrade" which looks like is not working oftentimes

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•How many guys did Peter Thiel call the anti-christ?Français
1·12 days agoYvan LeCun ?
I was just checking that yesterday, and there was the opportunity to have something equivalent to a “steam phone” with https://liberux.net/#specs , but the indiegogo failed.
One that is actually sold is the Furiphone , which is under finalization of software update., and has chroot for Android apps with Waydroid. check the links ! 😊
Problem with Wayland, is the liability of being to not able the use of some software, and not being able to foresee it.
X11 is also working well, and a lot of the “issues” people have with it is more about hearsay than real issues.
This is the reason why we have distro diversity: we can choose ! And laugh at innocent memes either way we feel about it
Antix , a debian, should be a good one for you. Base configuration is good, you may have issues with wifi connecting on startup, but otherwise it is enjoyable.

3·1 month agoYou can read the Pathfinder book and just use the tables associated with equipment … Pen & Paper RPG is wonderful because you are not limited to one book/system, you can pick what pleases you from different sources, it does not matter for the “not metagaming” playersx
Satisfying 😂

Programming@programming.dev•How exactly does one get better at programming?Français
3·2 months agoSelf taught Python (and using linux OS) over the last 15 years ; the only ways I found real progress in my code/coding were while doing the following : 1/ (at start): following strictly a “school manual” with lessons and ALL exercices. It was Python 2.3 I think, a manual (in French) by Swinnen. To be honest I stopped before reaching the GUI and network programming, and guess at what I suck today in Python programming … 2/ projects, personal projects. I did pro (paid) projects on the side, but with the impetuous to deliver results to be paid, I can not progress. On personal projects I can take the time to try stuff, to rewrite functions or programs, and to “improve” existing code with new/better coding constructs.
So here I am with a rather random level of Python programming proficiency, currently being average at most but enough proficient to have workable programs.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Does anyone actually take into account "IP Rating"/"Water Resistance" when they buy phones?Français
3·3 months agoYes and you should (good IP rating also means better hardware and assembly quality). I was using 2nd hand (refurbished) samsung, 3 months later it just failed because of summer, rain, sweat …

3·3 months agoIt is funny because that defeats the principle of the Internet as a shared, live, always on always available data space :-D

It am quite sure in the manual, but if you just look on the interwebz tutorials every command line just writes the full shebang. So you don’t look up the manual and get flabbergasted when you see this post. btw: if you are able to guess “what the standard shortcut would be”, you are a wizard Harry 🥳
