8·1 day agoBecause Obama got a Nobel peace prize, Trump is obsessed with getting one himself. That’s why.

I agree in principle, but the article is worded in possibly the worst way to get this across. It should be more along the lines of “don’t spend beyond your means”.
Don’t hate the player, hate the game. There’s a ton of evidence out there that whether you like it or not these kinds of thumbnails are effective at driving views.
Eh… I like Steve for the most part, but he does complain a lot on top of his reporting.

4·1 day agoI can’t remember who it was, but some comedian had this really funny bit that stuck with me ever since. It’s the same jist as what your said but their delivery was hilarious to drive home the point. People only hark on about free speech when they’re saying something shitty.

Linux@programming.dev•CardDAV client that supports death anniversariesEnglish
2·2 days agoSo, I think you’re bang on here. The exports reveal that the info is included like so:
item1.X-ABDATE:20160302 item1.X-ABLabel:DeathMy cursory searching tells me that this isn’t outside of the CardDAV/vCard spec per se, but that the
X-signifies “extension”, aka basically, info that is being included but may only be read by apps that specifically know to look for it.Now I need to decide if I’d rather have them show up as death anniversaries on my android calendar but not show up at all on my desktop clients, or redo those dates to be maybe a note or something though then they won’t sync to a calendar, or remove it entirely from the contact and instead just have it as an event on my calendar that repeats. Hmm…
Thanks for the idea though, it got me to look at the file itself which was very helpful!

1·2 days agoInteresting, I hadn’t even considered that the apps could have been doing something other than CardDAV. I’ll have to look into this angle more. Damn shame if true.

Ask yourself, honestly, what will they do when push comes to shove?

193·2 days agoThat is, in fact, not the problem in its entirety.
The move to CGI didn’t require stealing the artwork of the matte painters. The move to mocap didn’t require raping the land of all its water. The move to either didn’t require all of the world supply of computing power, leaving it only affordable for the world’s richest. The move to either didn’t create a corporate circle jerk that the damn near whole world economy was propped up by.

261·2 days agoI like your energy but direct it entirely at the companies, not the consumers. It’s the same kind of energy as big corporate convincing people that personal responsibility will solve climate crisis. It’s great to vote with your wallet but really we need regulation and policy that protects consumers against this shit.
For future reference, this kind of post is a lot more helpful if you mention what system you’re playing.
I appreciate the reassurance! My partner and I have actually been wanting to make a video game for a while, and I started learning Godot a while back but put it on the backburner. I don’t think we’d be able to do anything this quickly.

That’s a strange choice.
