Rock climbing isn’t my thing, but I helped out today taking some pictures at one and wow… there are a lot of people at those. People need belayers and it just had a generally friendly atmosphere. Plus you get exercise. If I was in need of friends and liked rock climbing, I’d definitely be going there more often.

  • It’s always good to have a backup heat source if you live in a cold climate, but heat pumps have progressed a fair bit with running at lower ambient temperatures. Many manufacturers have models that can run down to, or below, 0°F. However, those models usually are a fair bit more costly, so it makes sense to evaluate how often it dips below the low ambient cutoff for the heat pump and the cost and type of your backup heat to determine the most economical route.

  • So, if the person who is attacking you is much larger, or there are more of them, even if it’s a prank, you’re going to just throw a punch or shove them? What a privileged position you must be in to think you can simply punch or shove an attacker. Say that to the 100lb woman a 250lb guy is advancing on, she should just shove him, right?

Look, I don’t know if you’re ignorant or trolling, but if someone is acting like they’re going to attack someone and they have justifiable reason to fear for their life, then deadly force is a reasonable response. I’m not going to get the shit beat out of me, or killed, because “hey, it might just be a prank.”

  • Red light is great for a headlamp when you want to preserve your night vision, you’re also walking instead of traveling at +60 mph. Red light also doesn’t provide you with any color differentiation which would be an issue with already existing road lines (yellow vs white) and street signs along with the simple notion that humans are used to light in the full spectrum from the sun.

The biggest issue with headlights is people putting LED lights in older, halogen bulb housings that don’t scatter the light the same as LEDs which leads to blinding lights that are quite bright. Additionally, you get those assholes with lifted trucks that don’t re-aim their headlights and they too add to the annoyance and danger of driving at night.

Better enforcement of existing laws would help, but that’s asking a lot of police these days when they seem to have so many other “better” things to be focusing on. /s
