i was a r/chapotraphouse user back in the day before the reddit ban. I briefly went on the discord but there were some users who were there saying some pretty spicy things that could have been so i left that and then joined chapo.chat when it started up.

mainly i like the mix of users and i appreciate the environment that isn’t too self-serious, and i find that it’s made me do a lot of reflection and learning over the years. i rotate usernames a lot, im just some anonymous shitposter that has not been a staple of the community but i’ve been here the entire time.

iirc apple computers used to do this but they removed it because it either wasnt very accurate or the accuracy got worse as the battery aged. Maybe the situation is better now.

Like the borrow checker literally does not exist in C and it is not a thing people thought about when writing asynchronous C code. Maybe the AI will take a shortcut and write a bunch of unsafe rust code, but in that case what’s the point?

their reasoning is that rust (and perhaps others) that can be used in place of c or c++ have stronger compile time memory and thread safety checking which are two major sources of bugs and exploit vectors. So it’s not like they’re infiltrating the language in this case the way they would with crypto.
