Housemaids were hurrying homewards with their purchases for various Gallic breakfasts, and the long sticks of bread, a yard or two in length, carried under their arms, made an odd impression upon me.

Try your library, maybe they offer some streaming alternatives.

Note that they agreed on this almost a decade ago[1]. Whether or not it is about Trump, I am happy about greater independence for Europe, too! There is also Galileo (GPS alternative) and IRIS2 (for governmental, business, and private communication. Sort of an alternative to Starlink) and a few others out there[2].

Firefox is adding an option to add notes to tabs. It is possible to enable it in beta and nightly (not sure about stable) with browser.tabs.notes.enabled set to true.
It can also be enabled in beta with browser.tabs.splitView.enabled to true.
I find the tab note function (browser.tabs.notes.enabled to true) very useful as well.

With how things are run these days they may be called the Divided States of America. Unless Trump gains total control, then it turns into the FSA.

Van Dijk said on Sunday he would be uncomfortable having to start the match on a yellow card, which would put him at risk of being sent off for a minor offence.
But he is comfortable playing in stadiums built by corpses. Shocking how money reduces basic humanity.

@Innerworld@lemmy.world could you please add the link to the source(s) to your posts?
I guess you are just pasting the Astronomy Picture of the Day in here, which is nice. But maybe link to the relevant post (or its original source), so that people not aware of this can learn from the added context the sources provide.
I guess OP found this in yesterday’s ‘Astronomy Picture of the Day’, which includes the link you sent. Would’ve cost a second to include it in the post.
Thanks! My opinion is that images from NASA, ESA etc should always link to the source. They always include interesting information about what is in the image. It is also nice if I don’t need to search the database for ages.

no social media platform in history has had a good name
I think Twitter and ‘tweeting’ actually is pretty clever naming. And to be honest, Facebook is a pretty understandable name too, if you look at where the name comes from and what it once was.

‘Not-quite-end-plates plates’
Of je gebruikt fish-en-chips engels en eindigt woorden met -our, -ise, etc.

I don’t think anyone is doubting that, the real question remains whether the US will keep cooperating.

The EU already has qualified majority on some issues. Also this has nothing to do with veto, but postponing implementation of a regulation that already is agreed upon.
I’ll add to agree that I’d love to see more things to require qualified majority instead of unanimity.

Fennec is only Android, right? My issue is with the desktop version. It is also not a deal breaker, but I think it is quite a useful feature and easier to edit the search.

If this is a compromise to get states on-board (so they can keep their national armies), I’d consider it a promising start.
Time will tell. The words of AnkiHub are quite comforting, as it seems they are a small organisation focused on med students. It also seems they were surprised themselves with the offer they received when asking for collaboration.
They also say they will keep it open source 🤞
