  • The key thing is scaling up every level of missile production. The US navy barely has enough missiles to fill every launch cell in the fleet, and the annual build rate is very slow since they have to worry about things like “profit” instead of “winning”.

As long as you fill can produce missiles and fill missile cells - you win. The ships themselves can be civilian-produced, have no defenses, no safety features, and abandoned the first time they are hit without worrying about damage control. You don’t even need radars, since an actual real warship or command aircraft with a highpowered radar can data-link and aim the missiles for you. This would also give them very high availability since a civilian ship with no fancy features that just hauls missiles that can be borrowed by warships in the battlespace would be extremely cheap to maintain. A chinese warship locking onto an enemy warship and finding they have 200 missile cells in range to call from along with the 60 or so they have on board is going to win.

  • tl;dr – Someone stating the obvious with a bulletpoint breakdown that there is a user (cm0002) with a grudge against “tankie triad” using self-declared alts and pushing demonstrably untrue smears onto the rest of the lemmyverse to paint us in a bad light. And yeah, it’s true. There is a weird circus of lies out there to discredit us by using the most flimsy, poorly spun dramatics.

This whole project is run by communist devs who earnestly believe in user freedom. A side effect of that the devs won’t actually ban people who are calling them authoritarian tyrants. Ironically, cm0002’s deranged crusade simply proves the moral purity (if not superiority) of their opponents. A pleasant side effect that it has on hexbear is that it filters out the gullible from engaging with us.

  • Is it?

Multipolarity is popular on hexbear because it allows nations to assert themselves without being crushed - ripe ground for any ideology which wants to replace the stagnant liberal order in their own country. That makes the concept popular with fascists who want to dismantle the western order, and communists that want to dismantle the neoliberal capitalist order. Multipolarity is a dangerous double edged sword, but the key thing to remember is that it’s almost inevitable. The world changes, no one can stay on top forever.

Predicting that the world will be more unstable without a unipolar hegemon doesn’t, funnily enough, make you a duginist fascist.

  • Self preservation would be one motivation. .

The 2019 RAND report gameplan for this conflict makes it clear that, if the worst case scenario happens and Russia gets stronger over the course of the conflict rather than being depleted as intended, an offramp should be found immediately to minimize Russian gains. Ukraine is losing the war, and supplies are now limited to a dripfeed. Their suzerain is stating pretty clearly that they expect compliance. – Logically, in line with US think-tanks, the next step is to assassinate Zelensky and find someone more conciliatory.
