pretty sure this started happening with lemmy 0.18.4, because there was a fix for comment loading on the lemmy side included in 0.18.4.
4th gen is very old, so windows being really bloated and inefficient probably cut support for it.
Try linux if you are interested. The day to day performance is actually really good (except gaming ofc)

Rivals of Aether is like a PC smash brothers knockoff but it’s actually really fun and has a lot of mods for community made characters. I really recommend it.
maybe I’m not cultured enough, but I find rivals more fun than smash
