The depressing fact this is already in their calculations really suggests fines should be vary based on a percentage of the company’s profits, not a set number for all.

Bingo. Which is why they comfortably hide using the infighting of the two party system. One party has to be willing to accept they’ll be doing most of the work to fix the situation. Up until now, they wanted us believing the task is Sisyphean and impossible, the truth is we can easily catch them with their pants down.
It actually isn’t, but those in charge know our legal system works so slowly. So the companies already know they just have to delay and they’ll only pay a percentage of a fine for swindling patients. And instead of being accused of robbing, their legal team will get charges lowered and the company will just change its name and start over. Until the punishment fits the crime, the rich scams will continue.
Meanwhile, my long disabled cousin just started receiving SSI after 2 years of them dragging their feet. 2 months in, he now has them again, requesting pension forms, paystubs for work, unemployment compensation forms and life insurance policies. All things he already reported he never had due to his disability. It’s like they’ve suddenly believed things changed in that time window. The whole system seems to be broken, which might be intentional.
It’s like fundraising, if you have to ask if they fulfill their promises, you should know it won’t be long before you hear they didn’t. Besides, this sounds like a con from the way they describe it. So yeah, that’s gonna be a no from me, dawg.
Sorry to hear, but an interesting thought experiment. At my age, there’s no reason not to give it a shot. I’ll name him, Gwen. 😂👍
Yes, imagine a self-critical version of yourself voicing its opinions on your failures.
This is actually pretty genius, are there any downsides?
I haven’t given mine a name… the strangest part is it used to help out.
Some people just need a reason to hate and avoid any personal accountability. They’ll take anything they can get, they’ve had a shitty day/year/life and somehow beating up on a faceless stranger feels morally acceptable to them. The truth is, they are in fact just awful people, looking to justify their shitty behavior by correcting grammar or downvoting a complete stranger. Trying their damndest to avoid looking in the mirror. Whilst the rest of us humans, have a shitty day but roll with it. Because if you can’t let it roll off, you will never be happy.
So, public espionage, no one sane should accept this behavior for something they paid for.
The Last Man on Earth? lol
The only person throwing shade, is you. Unless mistaken, he’s referring to the American school systems, “No Child Left Behind”, policy. There was no personal reference to the poster he responded to. As for remarks on his grammar, perhaps check your own spelling before you throw stones.
Amen, and love the username lol
Buttspiders guy nailed it. Sorry my phobia rubbed you wrong.
Plus, I really hate the idea of my cheeks touching the screen… because then after the call I end up having to clean the screen off. Damned OCD.
Edit: Jfc lol was downvoted for sharing my phobia, stay classy Lemmy
No problem, always glad to get someone out of the curse of the monthly modem fees. 😂
They do not, this song is more used to get employees to quit.
Interesting direction, any recommendations? As I feel like I’m starting all over again these days lol.
