NaevaTheRat [she/her]

Despite all my rage I’m still a rat refreshing this page.

I use arch btw.

Credibly accused of being a fascist, liberal, commie, anarchist, child, boomer, pointlessly pedantic, a Russian psychological warfare operative, and db0’s sockpuppet.

Pronouns are she/her.

Vegan for the iron deficiency.

  • well it’s all reprap although prusa’a i3 design has been the foundation of bedslingers since it. I was there when the old magic was written and we were trying to find ways to print wires for motors haha.

you don’t often have a car driving through your bedroom or whatever. I’m not saying you should put as much effort into filtering the exhaust from a 3d printer chamber as nation states should to removing car dependence. I’m saying if you’re spending 300 euros on a printer spend 10 on cleaning it’s pollutants.

Or not, take whatever risks you like it’s your body.

  • Pretty much, also I’m pretty sure prusa are still all open hardware so you can do your own thing if you enjoy suffering.

I will say you should probably not run a fdm machine in the same room as you without filtration. I would recommend enclosing them for myriad reasons, and in the enclosure run a fan that forces air through a filter and activated carbon. No reason to increase exposure to VOCs and microplastics.

If you get a fdm that can dual material fiddly prints become a lot easier as you can use a support material you can dissolve off. That starts getting expensive.

Also consider material running cost. Resin is expensive (but minis don’t use much), plastic is cheaper but not that much cheaper buying quality, adding in supports, and dealing with failed prints.

  • I understand why people don’t take preventative measures in the absence of symptoms especially when they’re bombarded with everything is fine messages. While I’m kinda angry at the general 'rona response I try not to blame individuals. But like if you are coughing and spluttering you should not be inviting people round to your house! And if you do have to go out while sick (we all are yolked to mammon I get that you might be coerced into work or need to get supplies or whatever) you absofuckinglutely should be trying not to spread stuff.

Idk, I live outside a city (just) and don’t go into there very much but like you bet I’m masking up if I’m going to be spending time indoors with people, especially during peaks of anything.

Apparently I’m a paranoid nutter though, since I do stuff like check on rates of reportable illnesses and plan around peak cold and flu season, get flu vaccines, and wash my hands /shrug.

  • Q:

Definitely lying awake at night beating myself up for uh, cooking? It’s cooking. I default to making stuff from scratch anyway

I’m still sick, this is bullshit :/ I wanna get back out to the gem fields but a walk around the block has me coughing up my lungs.

Why are people so cavalier about infecting people, you wouldn’t feed someone bad food, why do people insist on hosting social events while sick? Sickness isn’t inevitable, it spreads largely through deliberate decisions. I know of no infection you’re better off having than not, many infections could kill or cause long term damage.

  • There is obviously a difference between someone posting an opinion in a thread and it being worded a bit hyperbolically and publishing a screenshot of that comment to all laugh at. Like that is so obviously different this defense comes across as extremely bad faith.

If the user had been highlighting particular individuals from shitjustworks as examples of jobless losers or whatever that would be one thing. They were just asked their opinion on it and they said it wasn’t worthwhile.

They’re not advocating for purges, bullying someone, or calling for harassment. They just think your instance is shit.

  • I am not sure if you’re being deliberately contrarian to protect cognitive dissonance, or just wildly ignorant of how studies are conducted.

In the most literal sense a study is made of a battery of experiments that are each run across a series of tests. This is also just “an experiment” colloquially since they’re all testing the same area. They do not take rats from say a maze solving study, then give them diabetes for a different study, then give them a brain tumor before putting them in the decapicone (a real product).

I have stolen lab rats marked for death, I know what I’m talking about.
