9I have the cc2 and had the Neptune 4 pro before that.

    My honest view on elegoo.

While you get some amazing deals on their latest machines. When things go wrong. As in bad design issues. You will often find the community is the only real help. And that can take some time.

Elegoo seems to have a release a new version fix strategy rather then help existing customers.

They will stand by warremtee as far as replacement parts go. But their prices honestly mean any design issues are built in for the model you buy. (Given as a company. They do work on small margins. I. A field where such issues are common. It’s hard to blame them.)

That said, the community is pretty darn good. And they are fairly open with their software etc, So alternatives etc are possible given time.

On the whole as an occasional user with a little technical ability. I consider them a good buy. But would hesitate if I needed them to be reliable for any form of business. I’m poor and find the fiddling fun sometimes. And can wait a bit and struggle when I have a project. If you do not think that way. Spend more on a printer with more support.

ATM the CC1 is likely the best deal on a core xy out there. But many community upgrades are advisable.

The CC2 fixes many of those needs. But it’s lack of internal website introduces more. IE Linux is a pain. And their website has occasional issues.

Orca are openly working on support for CC2 web issue. But ATM generating it’s GCode and moving via usb is required.

  • Or just refusing to run servers in California. Much like the US DRM encryption restrictions of the 90s. Where the whole Linux community just had distributions required parts of the download to happen in non US servers.

A single, (although big and very active in Linux) state, will always have more limitations then a nation. The issue comes if it becomes US national. And then the US starts pushing other nations to sign agreements.

Given at some point trumps harm to all international treaties will likely be repaired. Their may come a huge opportunity for US politicians to renegotiate international treaties.

    Assuming trust is ever returned.

  • He depends on his Maga supporters believing universal healthcare is a failure.

Actually needing US aid has less importance then convincing his voters of the need.

Let’s face it. Nearly all left wing hosts and talk shows. Have made a point that Greenland will not give up universal healthcare to join the US.

So it’s important he has some indication that the US needed to provide services to Greenland to continue to counter that political argument.

Just like bombing Venezuela and kidnapping it’s leader. It’s nothing to do with drugs. But is instead about making the lies about drugs more believable to the idiots that vote for him.

  • MoHonestly, it has improved over the years.

Most distros now have dark mode installs with higher contrast. But adjustable font size and any form of text to speech during install seems missing.

Text to speech is available on most DE’s but very like windows. It is still very unintuitive for low vision rather than 0 vision use. Unfortunately, developers with no vision issues still fail to recognise speed matters in real life. And folks with limited vision tend to need the ability to only use text to speech on set text. IE the ability to enlarge most text and just speak on text we choose. Android is very good at that now. But desktop OSes still make visual impaired difficult to compete time wise with non-disabled users.

I have found it impossible to adjust menu font sizes on the vast majority of DE’s using a start like menu. Not to mention how bad the majority of more modern (fasionable) DE and application interface trends are for people needing to remember locations.

Fortunately, most Linux DE’s do have the ability to quickly magnify sections of the screen using alt and mouse scroll.

As for some applications, insistence on gray text on white or lighter gray backgrounds. Why the hell is this so darn common now. Even folks with good vision find it awful.

Seriously take the OS 3d slicing software available. Every time I install one. I takes most of a day to find out how to make anything even slightly visible. Their is absolutely no reason for it.

  • USA Citizens have no process to throw him out. Only Congress or the senate can.

As for raising up and revolting. That will be as effective as errm. Let’s say “using a tiny navy to support oil tankers against the worlds biggest navy” IE it just looks like a protest. Note his move to send red state national guards into blue state cities. Dispite their violence crime being lower then red states. And his call to call any protesters terrorist’s.

It could be argued Civil war is just a matter of a change of words.

Atkinson hyperledgable. Made by the RNIB.

I’m visually impaired and it really helps.

It is also a good font in general for easy reading.

There is also a next version. Little more modern looking and a mono version.

  • Solid advice above. 3d printing on these things is a huge issue initially. Set up etc is very fiddly. And this is with a new set up with everything documented by the manufacturer. As soon as you start playing with the mess others have made dealing with the same issues. More so after having dismantled and moved a set up to sell.

Really not a fun task for a first timer.

Once you have done it once and understand the issues involved and just how minor errors can mess with plate adhesive and other issues. It would be a fine purchase. But not that cheap. 1/2 price of a newer model seems normal.

But it is also worth remembering. While these printers are very upgradeable. The tech is changing fast. And this is the price range where an older printer is likely to have changed the most compared to newer models.

  • Sorry to grin at you. But in OS theory Linux is known as a monolith kernal. So you choice of words would have given my lecturers a freakout.

But while your terminology is a bit crossed. The ideal you are explaining is fine.

Better Technical way to put it. Linux is just the kernal. Much of the interface you see is actually programs or apps running above that kernal. A d can be changed amd selected.

Windows is also started multipart. But has become less so over time. And it’s single distributer makes it way less obvious. By preventing any competition within it’s internal structure. The original monolithic kernal of Windows was the MS Dos command.com program. But I no lying those of us from the 80s and early 90 remember using it.

  • The difference is minor but significant.

Venus shows a potential with a need for answers as to how life would be possible. iE the hint is their but at levels of a compound that is more possible as non life then life. In an environment we have no idea how life could form. We do not even have much in the way of an hypothesis that allows life to have formed.

where’s as Enceladus is very the opposite. Compounds exist that we have never seen produced another way but life. Theories exist on how it might be possible. But the questions are from the opposite direction. iE Venus we do not understand how life can exist and need more answers. Enceladus we do not know how life can not exist. But have hypothesis with 0 evidence yet on how the effect can happen without life.

  • OK I see. Yes some questions were asked. But it was more about a possibility then any evidence of life existing.

Historically life on Venus has been considered impossible due to very high pressure and heat on the surface. But low (very low)amount of oxygen have been seen by some German scientists in the upper atmosphere. Due to this Some scientists have proposed that some life could exist in the upper atmosphere. As life is needed on earth to produce oxygen.

But the amount is so low. That it is possible for natural non life processes especially under high pressure to generate oxygen.

Where as we currently have 0 idea how any form of known life could develop in that environment.

So yes it’s seen as unlikely. But not impossible.

  • Wasn’t there something similar on Venus

No. Venus has no real moons. Just one captured astroid. And that has no history of suspected life.

Jupiter Def has some maybe life questions on a moon. But no organic evidence. So that is the most likely you remember. Also Saturn’s moon titan has been considered a likely candidate in the past. But no hints of actual organics.

This while still a long way from proof. Is the closest we have ever come to potential evidence of life in our Solar system.

Just in case you are way off. Extra solar has had some organic evidence. K2-18b has been seen by James web to have molecules possibly formed by life. But other option are possible. Just never seen on earth.

In general now is the time to be following such interests. Lots planned to analyse these sources closer.

  • It also has had real issues finding funding. And yes many who have worked for it. Have then had real issues finding work outside that field.

So yes by many it has spent a sizable portion of that 65 years seen as not real science. And a waste of money.

Quackery is a term normally saved for medical non science. Not a term I tend to use unless the scientific background is actually false.

Scientists tend to just question the effectiveness and cost of a scientific endever.

  • Agreed. No sane scientist will say it exists.

The strongest claim would be,. That it is less likely 0 life outside earth exist then some.

But what OP says is far more quack like, although traditionally quack is a term saved for medical lack of science. It feels right here.

As you say. His claim that extra terrestrial life Is on earth is not only without evidence. It opposes much evidence we do have. Like the limitations of distance or any other traveling life within our solar system.
