I’m a bit of a doomer when it comes to the potential of the American conservative movement to birth a violent revolution. Nothing Ever Happens Gang, take heed:

January 6th 2021 proved two things to me; first, there is latent revolutionary potential among the conservative bourgeoisie in America. They are willing to fight and die to bring about a utopian future being promised to them by QAnon, they just lack cohesion and a vanguard faction. The blackshirts are ready, they just need their Mussolini.

Second, it showed that the FBI and other agencies had a major blindspot for the MAGA conservatives, and weren’t embedded deep enough with them to pre-empt something like J6. There are a lot of theories that they must have known but just let it happen anyways to entrap people. But frankly when I see a situation that could be explained by the government having either godlike super-prescience 47D Chess skills as part of a trap, or by organisational incompetence like we saw with the Secret Service back in July in Butler-- I stick with ‘incompetence’. It’s a lot more

These two things create a perfect storm for the savvier and more prepared folks among the conservative movement. The General Flynns, the Ivan Raiklins, the Ammon and Ryan Bundys, the Dan Bonginos, and the Steve Bannons of the nation. People who want to see the current order completely overthrown, have connections throughout the right-wing media/‘intellectual’ worlds, and a willingness to either use violence or direct other people in using violence. All it takes is loose coordination between these kinds of people and the militia movements, and you’ve got the spark of something bigger beginning. A few attacks on key highways and parts of the electrical infrastructure, and they can create a huge shock across the continent that could have a ripple effect of inspiring the kinds of people who who weren’t at J6 but wish they were.

If Kamala wins, I fully expect Trump to try and use legal bullshit to try and overturn it, but the conservative bourgeoisie (who fully back him in that, but want to see blood, not lawsuits) might try to kick off a rebellion out west. If they fail, MAGA will say they were feds and forget it ever happened. If they succeed, they can help Trump pressure the Biden admin to relinquish power to Trump in order to avoid a civil war redux.

i mean i expect it to be completely unimaginative and shallow but still turn a profit, so anything beyond that low bar will be a win for gamers everywhere

To add on to what I wrote here-- what was missing from January 6th was a unified Republican stance that violence and ‘cheating’ were justified. The people who had already made up their minds about that charged into the capitol, and the Republicans in the halls of power turned tails and shat on them as a result, proving that they were more motivated more by a loyalty to the status quo than by a chance to reshape it through force.

That lack of unity is gone in 2024. Trump is the Party, and he has proven that he is willing to cheat and kill to keep himself on top.

Pretty realistic. It’s easy to dismiss the threat of a second Trump administration as Democratic fearmongering to chase after donations and motivate voters, but the Dems have proven at every turn that they care more about decorum than about wielding power as a tool to affect the world. The right is increasingly moving in the opposite direction-- decorum doesn’t matter, winning matters. Getting what they want matters.

When Trump trashes the entire administrative ‘deep state’ that restrained him during his first administration, through Schedule F shenanigans or violence, what are the Dems going to do? A Republican administration, doesn’t even have to be Trump, can totally remove any and all tools that could be used to restrain the Administrative Branch’s power, and concentrate it all in one person. Dems would quiet down and fall into line President von Hindenburg style, instead of using what they have left to form the nexus of some kind of competing power structure. Something something we need peace to heal the nation.

One party is fascists, the other is West Wing LARP. The fascists can do a LOT of damage if all they get as pushback is Sorkinesque tweets.

The major thing that separates Project 2025 from previous conservative platforms is that it ditches the entire administrative state right away, replacing the entrenched bureaucrats who make up the ‘deep state’ (not in the QAnon boogeyman sense) with a pre-selected roster of vetted conservatives who Heritage Foundation deems more loyal to Trump than to the liberal order

The administrative state can’t oppose its own deletion…unless, as you suggested, the military gets involved. If there isn’t an immediate and direct rebuke by the Armed Forces of that deep state replacement phase of the project, then Trump will probably get away with it

her posts always irked me. even taking them at face value and not being skeptical of her intentions, i was confused at why the community kept rallying around someone who constantly sabotaged herself so much. she’s not someone who is ever going to stop using, because deep down she doesn’t have the desire to.
