  • Theres only 2 times I have headaches due to being on linux.

    1. When I’m streaming, the streaming service I use (typically Amazon) refuses to stream at anything higher than like 320p, despite me enabling the DRM and all that stuff, cause they think if you’re on linux you’re the l33t h4x0rz out to steal their garbage files… Which isnt linuxes fault in the least.

    2. When I’m playin a game thats not easily moddable (like Cyberpunk) (Compared to easily moddable games, like Bethesda titles, or Stardew, Or Minecraft)that requires running tons of extra executables and stuff. its just a pain in the ass to get shit working, to the point I often give up half way through.

other than that, Linux really hasnt been a barrier to my daily life in any way. Granted, I kind of cultivated myself a proper linux enviroment before I even made the switch, by using AMD gear, and buying linux friendly web cams/printers/blue tooth dongles/etc etc.

I would never sell my games, ever.

I made that mistake once, and it was a decision I’ve regretted for decades.

Evercarts and emulation are convenient, but is nothing compared to having that original box, with the original cart, and original book, and any other stuff, in it, for when you want to ride the nostalgia train.

  • No one says you gotta play games coming out today.

If you only want to play single player, want it to be cheap, and have a great library of games to play… .Pick up a used PS2 or Gamecube. PS2 lets you play both PS2 and PS1 games, gamecube…if you can find a gameboy adapter for it for cheap, also opens up gameboy/gameboycolor/gameboy advance games. real versatile.

Should be able to find one used online/garage sale/classified for cheap. games are abundant, cheap, and amazing.

anything older is starting to get expensive, and anything newer will typically be always online/online drm checks/etc.

Especially true with how AI is absolutely ruining hardware prices atm, with ram costing as much as goddamn video cards.

Course, thats assuming you want to play on the actual hardware, setting up a retropi for SNES/NES/Genesis/ETC is also viable, bit more fraut trying to find the roms nowadays, though. is the best, most affordable option if you want to play PS1 or older, though.
