The smoke and cloud contrast in image 1 made me absolutely fall in love with that painting.

Only way to improve these sceneries would be to put a lovely 7/11 there.

Love the works of Church (and pretty much the entire Hudson River School). I recognize Cotopaxi and Heart of the Andes in your examples.

But Aurora Borealis is probably my favorite, and you can check it out for free in the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C.

I’d also like to add Turner to the list. The way he used the white of the canvas / paper to power his skies was just astonishing to me.
