There would be protests, perhaps even Troubles-style terrorism, and Trump would send in the military just like he is currently doing for other uppity “blue” areas like DC and Chicago.

He doesn’t threaten to invade Greenland, he’s just “going to get it one way or another.”

He’s threatening war not directly, but as a direct and predictable outcome of choices.
Of course he never threatened invasion. He would deny he’s ordering an invasion even as he orders an invasion. And the weird shit is, thanks to his mental illness, he would deny it’s an invasion, deny it’s a war, inside his own head even as he gives the orders to do so.
