Context for those living in less restrictive areas:
AB 1127 is a California Bill that aims to ban the sale of “semiautomatic machinegun-convertible pistols” (ie pistols that can utilize a Glock switch or similar). The bill doesn’t mention Glock by name, but it’s intent seems to be geared towards removing the Gen 3 Glocks from the market.
Ironically, one of the main reasons the Gen 3 is still so prevalent despite the Gen 4 and 5 having been out for a while, is that California has not added (and likely will not add) them to its “handgun roster” (a whitelist of handguns you are allowed to own in the state - I know). The Gen 4 and 5 are not as easily modded to be full-auto (though it’s still possible), so if those had been added to the roster, chances are high that there’d be far less full-auto Gen 3s floating around…
Thank god for all those guns in the US. They will come in really handy if an authoritarian government comes to power.
Meanwhile, criminals and “criminals”:
It’s always fascinating to watch US gun regulation attempts and reactions to them from a perspective of someone living in a country where you straight up can’t buy guns unless you are a hunter or a member of a target shooting sports club and even then it takes over a year to get permits.
I’m in one of those countries (well, it takes 3 months to get a firearms license) and ironically I could go buy a gen 5 Glock tomorrow, if I wanted to.
(I don’t want to, I don’t get the fascination with them when CZ and Walther are available, but there you go …)
Having owned both a Glock and a CZ, I’d sell the Glock in a heartbeat. The Shadow will never get sold. Such an incredible firearm, even stock.
I knew I’d snag at least one Glock owner with that comment, lol
