As it is now, with two small kids, I don’t have the time to devote to contesting. I do absolutely love going on the air after bedtime and chatting with other CW ops.

Which do you prefer?

No time for contesting? You can just put in a casual effort, an hour or two as you’re able to. Or focus on sprints.

I prefer contests and that kind of contact. SOTA/POTA is generally short and sweet QSOs.

Completely agree! SOTA/POTA are the best chat: short but very polite.

      Yes, but kind of no.

I love the pile up when working SSB, in CW it’s all about the chat.

Also, bedtime in our house tends to be the same time as a lot of the 1 hour contests.

SOTA/POTA: yep, although I’ve not done any yet, it is something I want to have a go at

I feel the opposite about pileups - terrible on sideband, fun on CW 😂

I like to see how far I can reach and with how low of power to do it. Outside of the other end’s equipment, I don’t really wanna chit chat. Just swap sigs, equipment, power, and QRZ?
