How is this D104 mic going to sound with the Realistic HTX-100?
I’m looking to push my limited HF phone capabilities as a Technician licensed ham in the US. Got a good deal on this Realistic HTX-100…I think. The Astatic D104 mic with T-UG9 9v battery-powered amplifier in the base was a surprise not advertised by the seller. I need to get a new battery for it, and I still need to build the 10 meter dipole for it, so I’ve only tested the rig with the user-adjusted Wilson Little Will mag-mount vertical that came with it (1.1 SWR but in my attic at the wrong height!?). Some people complain about the sound of D104s and some people praise them. There’s also a dozen different flavors so it’s hard to tell which one people are talking about. Supposedly impedance matching is not a problem because of the amplifier circuit with adjustable volume.
Overall goal for the shack was to get on 10 meter phone and JS8Call for around $300. Including the QRP Labs QDX on order (http://shop.qrp-labs.com/qdx), I should be right on target. Including the $60 laser distance meter for figuring out my dipole in the back yard, I’m way over lol.
