Google says it has begun requiring users to turn on JavaScript in order to use Google Search, possibly in an effort to block certain SEO tools.

So this is a way to block SearX and other privacy tools and methods, right?

If the intention is to stop low quality content from gaming the algo, good. But then again, when has any of these companies done a good thing?

Now if they could only get rid of the AI generated gumming up the search results.

Now if they could only get rid of the AI generated gumming up the search results.

you can add -ai to your queries to remove it for yourself fwiw

As far as low quality content goes — this is a requirement for making search queries, not search indexing, so it won’t have any effect on what slop gets indexed

Anybody aware of a decent alternative to google out there that allows the same sort of dorking techniques google does? I thought maybe yandex would but it doesn’t seem like it. And SearX just doesnt cut it.
