Works pretty consistently at 60fps 1080p but struggles a bit at 1440p. Shame i can’t do both but otherwise looks and plays fine.
I can post some instructions on setting it up if anyone is interested its actually quite simple
Instructions:
- Download the fork of shadps4 that is for bloodborne here you will want the QT release for your relevant OS https://github.com/diegolix29/shadPS4/releases
- Download the GOTY copy of bloodborne I went for the link in the post here https://www.reddit.com/r/bloodborne/comments/1f80pjb/where_can_i_get_the_pkg_file_for_bloodborne_for/
- Download the 1.09 patch for the ISO ID you downloaded https://orbispatches.com/CUSA03173
- Download vertex explosion mod https://www.nexusmods.com/bloodborne/mods/109?tab=files this will disable face customising
- Download some other fix https://www.nexusmods.com/bloodborne/mods/70 i downloaded this and installed but it says for intel no idea if they’re needed for amd
- There’s also some other fixes I didn’t download here https://www.nexusmods.com/bloodborne/mods/41?tab=files I would suggest playing and downloading patches to fix whatever issues you face, these fixes seem to be intel specific I have an AMD cpu I can’t find much info on if they’re needed for AMD or not but game seems to play fine
- Open shadps4 and install the game pkg file
- Install the patch pkg file
- Open the game installation folder and extract relevant mods into the folder and overwrite files
- In shadps4 settings turn on fullscreen if you want
- Right click on the game entry and click cheats and patches, click on patches tab and download patches
- Select shadps4 XML at the bottom of the patches page
- Enable skip intro, disable http requests, 60fps, force old hunters dlc, and if you want to upscale or downscale from the games native res you can select a resolution option below
- Give it a whirl
I’d recommend this for people who’ve already played and wanna see 60fps or upscaled res its not a perfect experience for new players which can be frustrating. It also has lots of compilation stutter when you first run it which can suck if it happens at the wrong time.
I don’t think I can run it (I can barely run dark souls on my laptop) but it’s really good to see I don’t have to get yet another piece of tech to play games that I’d really enjoy otherwise.
Would really love a small guide on how you set it up (tweaks ecc…)
Updated the description with a guide.
crashing on install game from pkg:( seems like a few people run into this. maybe i should just wait a few months…
Did the emulator close completely or was it just unresponsive? When I installed the package the emulator was unresponsive but I just left it in the background and after like half an hour it finished installing. By the way, I also have a 1080ti and it runs mostly smoothly even with the 60fps patch, so hopefully the same will be true for you once the installation problems are solved! Other specs are an i5-10400 and 16GB RAM.
this worked thanks so much lol, it actually only took a few minutes, shows how patient i am… it is mostly smooth for me too, i’m thinking i give it another 6 months of dev time before starting a proper playthrough though.
Glad I could help! Same here, it’s really cool that the game is playable now, but I’ve never beaten it before so I think I’m gonna give it some more time to cook.
The stuttering may be due to shader compilation from the vulkan translation layer. I found running around in the starting zone for a bit was quite stuttery with big frametime spikes then it smoothed out as i explored more and became a much smoother 60fps. I think the shaders get cached cos every subsequent startup was still smooth. Maybe the emu will eventually get async shader comp and precompiled shaders like rpcs3 but probably won’t be for a while
hmm I will have to try this. it was unresponsive but when I restarted it the game had partially installed so you could be onto something. are you also on Linux?
thanks for this post. can i ask what GPU/CPU you’re running? wanna know if i can expect to hit 1080p60
4080 super and 5800x3d
cries in 1080ti
At 1080p60 i was using around 50% of my GPU and 20% of my CPU, the emu seems more CPU limited you may be able to do it. There’s a 720p downscale patch in the patches menu which could squeeze out some extra performance
im gonna give it a shot, seems like it might be doable. i do have a 9900k which is still pretty decent.
Doesn’t possess the requisite quantity of xD
anyone got other links to the pkg, preferably torrents? the one from the reddit post is expired
i wonder if i could get this working on my steamdeck, and if anybody already has
https://youtu.be/1q8WFEjFYok it appears it does run
oh snap, i might have to finally beat the chalice dungeons now
I just tried this out the other day and it didn’t yet quite run perfectly, so I guess I’ll wait a few more months before playing it for the first time. Already waited almost a decade, what do a few more months matter now?
do you need to dl ps4 system modules?
Nop all steps listed are what I did nothing extra
thank you! for the mods do you just dump them in game install dir?
Yep
Oh shiiiiiiiit, did they finally pull it off?
Its pretty close most of the effects are there it looks comparable to the console version. Feels pretty decent with 60fps but i haven’t played much yet maybe less stable later idk
Did you compile from source?
No I downloaded the precompiled windows binary
I’m going in
Excellent game. Hope my pc is up to it
how far along is it now? can you complete the game? any major framedrops?
I got the inspiration to do this from this post claiming they platinumed the game. My experience so far is occasional stutter from shader comp that smooths out and a lot of random crashing. Sometimes its stable for a long time sometimes it crashes at the main menu. It’s not there yet but fun to mess around with for me who’s already finished the game multiple times on ps4
Great thread comrade. I’ve been wanting to try Bloodborne on PC since the recent breakthroughs in emulating it. Hopefully I can dump it from my brother’s PS4, but if I can’t, at least I’ll know where to get it thanks to the thread you linked.
