Summary
Reddit’s r/medicine moderators deleted a thread where doctors and users harshly criticized murdered UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson.
Comments, including satirical rejections of insurance claims for gunshot wounds, targeted UHC’s reputation for denying care to boost profits.
Despite the removal, similar discussions continue, with medical professionals condemning UHC’s business practices under Thompson’s leadership, which a Senate report recently criticized for denying post-acute care.
Thompson, shot in what appears to be a targeted attack, led a company notorious for its high claim denial rates, fueling ongoing debates about corporate ethics in healthcare.
I pointed out how protests are met with the violence of the state, and your response was “it’s not easy”
How else could one interpret that?
Listen what I am saying is that protest will always have repossession, I ain’t saying its right but imagine the women who fought for their rights to be considered equal. They were beaten and jailed but it didn’t stop them and eventually it brought changes…
Nothing comes without sacrifice and honestly I don’t want to live in a world where murder is the solution to our problems as it is a slippery slope in my view.
I don’t have the answer, but I sure as hell know it’s not the way
So we’re back to the protesters having to suffer.
Nah, I think the oppressors should suffer instead.
The slippery slope is a common logical fallacy. It’s not real. Look it up.
Look man, I don’t see what your solution is here, you don’t want to protest so what are you proposing as a solution? Just give power in the end of a random guy who decides to shoot random billionaires? Do you not see what I’d the next step outside of the typical justification for the rich to have their own militia and the actually lead to even worst civil violence?
As I said, I don’t have he answer but protest and boycott do work. It is what made the world change the policies for apartheid South Africa, it is what forced the British out of India.
The onyl difference today its that its harder to prevent the truofrom coming out but what is the point if no one will stand up for what is right.
