how do you even find motivation to keep posting video after video?
so is starting a peertube worth it or is now a good time to start?

well originally things like youtube or whatever was more of a hobby, people would upload stuff because they felt like it and wanted to - it wasn’t really get famous and rich like people hope for today.
so you have to ask yourself what your goal even is.
i want to do is as a hobby or a goal if possible but im worried i might fail my goal, such as starting a peertube channle. at the moment i dont have to many goal and i thought peertube might help a little, if that makes sense.

So do the thing.

If your goal is to start a channel, you won’t fail because that’s easy. Just start it and boom you’re done. Goal accomplished.
Now if your goal is to start a “successful” PeerTube channel things get interesting. Mainly, what do you define as successful? Lots of viewers? That’s doable. Profitable? That becomes harder. Sustainable? You could do that imo. Just a place to share your thoughts? You got that. There are more ways to define success but those are just examples.
So the first thing to do is really ask yourself what your goal is for this channel. What do you want it to do or represent?

I think it makes sense, but I’ll say be careful not to burn yourself out or get down on yourself if it’s not shaping up how you expected. Especially since you haven’t quite defined what you’re using your channel for.
Good luck OP
What’s the harm? Have a go at it. Make a video.
Thing is, PeerTube isn’t YouTube.
Banging out video after video to grab eyeballs is viable with monetisation but, on the Fediverse, you’d have to rely on Patreon and affiliate links to gain income but with a much lower “footfall”.
If you are on someone else’s instance, then they are likely to put a limit on the amount of storage you get, so you may run out of space with a flood of videos.
For now, just do what you enjoy, don’t make it a chore. Use Mastodon/Calckey to boost your videos (try Calckey’s easymode.im instance for games) and just see how it works for you.
Real talk, start a peertube channel but only if you’re doing it alongside other platforms.
The top channels on peertube get maybe 70 views per video and they’ve got big organizations behind them quite often.
If you going to do it, do it because it’s something you want to do, not because you expect views, or fans, or anything like that. If you happen to stumble upon success, great. But that’s not something you should expect because more likely than not it’ll just be yet another games channel.
