WASHINGTON — After more than a half-century in politics, no subject may be more personally painful nor politically problematic for President Biden than his troubled son, Hunter. He is by all accounts a gaping wound in his heart and the most sensitive soft spot in his campaign armor. On the one hand, Hunter Biden’s agreement on Tuesday to plead guilty to two misdemeanor tax crimes capped a five-year investigation without allegations of wrongdoing…

I’m glad another rich tax cheat got caught, even if it probably happened for the wrong reasons.

I’m no fan of Biden, but this truly is an unfair attack. He isn’t and hasn’t been involved in his father’s political life. Of course right-wing morons will latch onto it and twist it because of their confirmation bias that our boring ass neoliberal President is involved in the vast conspiracies they made up.

It’s not some vast conspiracy, American rich corporate fancy lad committed tax fraud like most other American rich corporate fancy lads and lasses. The only odd detail here is that he might face some accountability for it, which I grant is fucking Bizaare in the United States. It’s like seeing an American cop help a homeless minority, basically an octuple rainbow.

most anybody in Hunter’s position would have gotten probation… without pleading down. The reality of this is that the sentencing is absolutely political, being ridiculously excessive compared to what’s “normal”- especially on a plea deal. I’m not trying to minimize what he did- but they’re misdemeanors. These three charges are the best they got on the biden family. that’s it. that’s all there was for those skeletons in the closet.

meanwhile, we have the AG sitting on an investigation of a guy we all know incited an insurrection for the purpose of overturning the lawful, constitutional and legitimate government… because they might appear political, and taking nearly two years to TS:SCI documents back from a dolt who thought storing them in the shitter was a good idea… or whose son in law received billions from Saudis…while working in the government.

Loads of folks (me included) have went through some tough times and forgot/disregarded/said screw it to filing an income tax return. It’s a nothing-burger in the real world. The real story is that he has acknowledged and conquered his problems and cleaned up in the 5 years since the investigation started. 👍🏻
